I guess it depends on your needs and situation. Like I mentioned earlier, we were in building 1 (which seems to be further from the main commons area than 7) and we didn't seem to have much trouble getting from here to there. It looks on the map as though building 7 is fairly far from the dock area for the DTD boats. The pool is pretty centrally located to all areas. So I guess it would depend on the needs of your group. Do you have really small children? Do you have elderly people? Would you be taking the boat to DTD frequently? If so, then you might be better off somewhere like building 2 or 5. Here is the link for the map just in case you haven't seen it. HAVE A GREAT TIME! You'll have fun no matter which building you're in

Can anybody comment on distances from the Bldgs to the food court, pool and bus stop?

Thanks!
If you look at the POFQ map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-french.htm you can see that the bus stops are not far from building 7 at all. (The person who wrote that review stayed in bldg 7). I can't imagine they had to drive there, that's so wierd?!??!??!?!?! Maybe they were using the wrong bus stop...one at POR!??

Anyway, we stayed in bldg 5 last trip. 3rd floor, facing the courtyard. We were plenty close enough to everything, pool, food court, boat, and the bus stops were right next to where we parked our van. (We never used the buses, we drove our van everywhere.)

I don't think any of the bldg's are far away from anything.

It looks like bldg 5 would be the best one....close to everything. I've never in all my trips anywhere made any kind of room request. How would I go about requesting bldg 5? Anybody know how this is done?

You can call CRO right now and they will put in on youre ress.(although they wont guarantee it) or you can just request it at check in. They will try very hard to make you happy.

Question POFQ with 2 year old?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Disney-Mania...we're taking our almost-3 year old son to WDW for a week at the end of August. I was originally thinking PC, then AKL, but now I"m thinking POFQ.

I've read some great reviews about it, how do you think it would be with a little one? Is it easy to come back in the middle of the day for a nap? What about getting to the other resorts for meals (Luau, Hoop De Doo, Chef Mickeys, etc), is that hard to do from there on the bus system? I'm not sure if we're going to drive or fly and if we fly I'm not sure if we'll rent a car.

I'd love to hear your opinions!

Beth

As far as the decor and theming goes, it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for something very strongly kid themed then POFQ may not be for you. It's slightly more on the mature side. Don't get me wrong- it's AWESOME, and there is a pretty cool dragon water slide, but I don't think it's as heavily kid-themed as some of the other resorts. Since your son will only be 3 it might not even matter - it's still WDW As far as using the bus service to go to restaurants at other resorts, we did this fairly easily. You just need to plan ahead or you could waste a LOT of time. You need to know which park the resort is near that you would like to eat at, take the bus from POFQ to that park, and then take the monorail, boat, or another bus to the resort from the park. Confused? Here's an example: If you wanted to go to the Luau at the Poly you would take the bus from POFQ to the Magic Kingdom and then take either the monorail or the boat from the MK to the Poly. If you aren't going at a SUPER busy time of year you really shouldn't have much of a problem. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

You asked for it so I'll give you mine. If you can swing it, I would opt for a monorail resort. It seems as if you are really interested in the restaurants on the monorail route and you want the convenience of heading back to your room for naps. The bus system is fine if you're not in a hurry, but it can take up to an hour to go resort to resort since you have to transfer to another bus from DTD or one of the parks. The codes for the end of Aug. are not out yet, but you might be able to get a great rate for the Garden Wing of the CR.

connecting rooms

It seems others ran into the same confusion about a king connecting to doubles! I got the same answers when I made the reservation in March when the codes came out. One CM said they do connect, another said they don't. Eventually the third (had to call for different reasons) said they do and that I would be fine with the reservation I had. Now, I find out I have 2 standard rooms reserved and there are no kings available at the discount rate for our travel dates. I want our boys to have separate beds but I want to sleep with my husband

I'm so frustrated. I just wish I had a straight answer to start with so I had all my options available instead of having it decided for me. I really want to stay at POFQ - I've heard so many good things! I guess the reservationists can't know everything :D

Where does the boat from POFQ to Downtown let you off? Marketplace or West Side?

jcemom- I just did the boat yesterday, it lets you off at the marketplace. Just a warning, in order to get a seat if you board at FQ you might have to take the boat up to Riverside first. The boats going from Riverside to DTD did not stop at FQ because they were already full. they caught us on the way back.

Question Food Court

After seeing all the beautiful pictures, I am trying to decide if I want to switch to POFQ from Pop for our upcoming trip in September. There will be 6 of us (4 adults & 2 boys-8&10). Since my mother is going (late 60s and a few health problems) I like the idea of this being a smaller resort which I hope would equal less walking.

Are most buildings near a parking lot? We will have 2 cars with us. We have never driven to the parks before but might if we have transportation issues with the bus. I hate for my mother to have to stand on a crowded bus. Since they are shared with POR, are they incredibly crowded? Also, doesn't it take forever to get to a park since they have to make all the stops at POR?

We stayed at ASMU last year and wanted to try something new. Since we need 2 rooms, a deluxe is out of the budget. Pop or POFQ, which to choose? The other mods just seem too big.

All of the buildings are a two minute walk from a parking lot or less. We also rented a car so we never took a bus. I loved POFQ and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Karalea,
I highly recommend POFQ. I just got back from there Friday

Take a look at the map and you can request a building near the parking lot (and say WHY. You could ask for a first floor room for the same reason). The longest walk would be from building 1 to the busses, if you were going to use them....and still not all that far. The busses pick you up at POFQ first, so you will always get a seat...and then stops at Riverside, so it takes a few minutes....but you ARE sitting!) Busses drop off at POFQ first EXCEPT the one from DTD did not the night we took it. That may be because the boat from DTD goes to POFQ first (kind of makes it fair).
There is also a water slide at the pool (I don't think POP has one, I know the other values don't....somebody correct me if I'm wrong) which the kids would love. And the hot tub is separate from the pool area, which I liked.
