I bought an old version of the Joy of Cooking from a used bookstore today. The yeast in the bread recipes is measured by the cake instead of package or teaspoon. Is one cake equivilent to one package (i.e., about 2-1/4 tsp)?

Yes, a bread book I have says that one cake of yeast is equivilent to one packet of yeast.
