Big River Grille Question

I have been busy plotting and planing our ADRs and I feel like I have a good mix of stuff for the kids (6,2) and some stuff that might be more adult appealing (Boma, Flame Tree,BOG ) I was trying to find one more for a table service and stumbled upon Big River Grille...the menu looks awesome so my questions are ...

1) Have you ate here ? Is it great/good/bad?

2) Kid friendly ?

3) I am unfamiliar with Disney boardwalk...closest to any parks ? easy way to get there from resorts ?

Thanks for any help !

We love the burgers. When we stay at Boardwalk, it's our traditional arrival lunch. We like to sit outside (weather permitting) and soak in the atmosphere.

I don't have kids but I'm sure it's kid friendly.

You can walk or boat from either DHS or Epcot International Gateway exit.

I don't really like it there. I think it used to be an old diner. Old tables, chairs, decor inside. Outside is better! It's like a Ruby Tuesday or TGI Friday. We traveled with little kids and there was typical kid food, they liked it! I've never been, but I heard Beaches and Cream is great. There's also a good bakery with lots of lunch choices and a walk up pizza window on the boardwalk.

Enjoy!

I *love* staying on Crescent lake so I normally eat there at least once on each trip.

Many people are "meh" about it but I haven't had a bad meal there yet. While I won't call anything I've had truly exceptional everything I've tried has been good-to-very good but part of that is also the atmosphere.

We always go for the outdoor seating on the boardwalk as it can be a little noisy on the inside, and with the view across the lake and the fresh air, why would you want to be inside anyway? That's just IMHO.

The boardwalk area is definitely kid friendly with Boardwalk game booths and performers (look for a schedule) that do juggling, magic, mime, etc. and if one of them just wants a slice of pizza or something else, that's right on the Boardwalk too so the adults can have the sitdown and the kids can bring the food they've gotten from the pizza window or the food stand and all eat there.

Surrey Bikes and regular bikes are available for rent there so you can take a tour around the lake and go up to near the entrances of both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Fantasia mini-golf is just on the other side of the Swan so there's that too.

The fastest way to get to Crescent Lake from another resort will probably be to get a transfer from Downtown Disney or take the bus to Hollywood Studios then turn right before going in to head to the boat dock where you jump on one of the Friendship boats that will bring you right in.

There's plenty of other dining options too in that area since you have the Swan, Dolphin (we call it the Koi), Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk.

Happy Planning,
--john

Along the Boardwalk, this place and the ESPN Club don't take reservations (although I'm sure someone will say this place does but I don't have that info). Of the two, my husband would recommend this one even though we both love sports. It's just a better environment to relax.

I don't think we've ever been disappointed with Big River Grille and my husband would easily cross off a restaurant if we were so I would put it in the good to great category.

Kid friendly? Yes. In our experience, the inside seating can get loud since the TVs and the bar is in there. For kids, you might want to get an outside table and then sit and relax with your meal. The kids can "play" a bit without disturbing the other diners and you can people watch whoever is coming along on the Boardwalk.

It's just outside of Epcot and you can take a boat or walk to The Studios. You could fit this in for the end of a Studios or Epcot day.
