Same room, but different park passes

So I am planning a trip with my friends for Spring Break 2015. We all plan to stay in one room, AoA suites to be exact.

Just say I had a AP already, should I not book the trip as a package, but just do the RO? Should my friends then buy the tickets on their own and then link them somehow to the same trip?

Am I making any sense here? lol please help

Yes, that's exactly how you want to do it! Room-only (you could also do Room plus Dine with an AP if you'd like). Your friends can then buy their own tickets, link them to MDE and you will be all set!

That is how we booked our upcoming trip. The couple we are traveling with have annual passes, we purchased tickets on the disney site. Not sure about linking it to magic bands yet. I'll cross that bridge when they arrive in a few days.
