Movie Snacks

Hi. Sailing next year on our first Disney Cruise and I read the movie snacks are not included. Can you bring food into the theater with you? Just wondering if it's worth it for me to buy a few $1 boxes of our favorite candies and stash them in our luggage.

They sell popcorn at the entrance but seriously we couldn't even think about food again.

I probably wouldn't try to take in a full meal from the quick service counters on the pool deck. I've heard people were turned away with a plate of food. I've gotten a cup from the drink station and filled it with ice cream from the dispenser to take to a movie.

There is fresh popped popcorn on the Fantasy and the Dream, I'm not sure about the classic ships.

This is what I read on another thread:

$3.50 for small boxes, or you can buy a small 'bucket' (which is about two cups larger than the boxes) for $7.00? They will refill the bucket for you all week @ $3.50 per fill.

We tried to bring chicken fingers in one time and were told we couldn't. Never had a problem with drinks, candy, or bags of chips or pop corners. Never had to hide it. We've purchased the popcorn outside the theatre many times because we felt it was reasonable for the flavored coated popcorn. They really should make fresh popcorn and give it out free of charge. It's very inexpensive and would go a long way with passengers.

We've brought drinks, cookies, fries and pizza to the theaters. No one said a word. Would much prefer free fresh popcorn

we've brought quick service food and no one said anything. nothing posted saying you can't.
a few times we have grabbed chicken fingers and fries, cheese and crackers, have even ordered mickey bars from room service and taken those in.

guess it depends on the day. if you find though that you want candy i would for sure bring a few boxes from home just for the price issue and that the kind of candy is limited.

Can you still get free popcorn if you're staying in the Concierge Rooms?

I see groups of obnoxious kids in the movies all the time. If the popcorn was free it would probably be all over the place. At least if you have to buy expensive popcorn, you're more apt to eat it than throw it around (hopefully).

The reasoning we were given for charging for popcorn is that they'd have a hard time keeping it "in stock" if it were free. I put a note on my comment card. Happy they have it, bummed that it's an extra-charge thing.

We've brought some $1 boxes of candy from home and it's worked very well.

Thanks! We do the same at the movie theaters near us. Usually I'll stop by the local pharmacy and pick up the theater boxes for $1 each and stash them in my purse. LOL. As long as my kids have their Sour Patch Kids and Cookie Dough Bites, they're happy.

The classics have the fresh popcorn too. At least the Magic offered the small boxes and refillable buckets on our recent EBTA.

On the Magic during the 2014 EBTA, the concierge still delivered the bagged popcorn to the suite whenever my girls ordered DVDs for most of the cruise. Near the end of the cruise they delivered the small boxes of fresh popped with the DVDs and for the Maleficent "Prem-ear at Sea". I'm not sure why there was a change but I suspect they ran out of the bagged popcorn.

They have popcorn in chip bags (like smartfood) and goofy candy company candies. From what I remember everything was under $5. We maybe watch one or two movies on the ship, so I don't personally bother to pack special snacks from home.
