Is AOA worth it if not a suite?

We are interested in staying at AOA, but the family suites are not in our budget...we were interested in a standard room (Little Mermaid).. But I read that the resort is very spread out and the standard rooms are the most inconvenient to get to... Is it worth it?

I didn't find it any worse than being stuck in a Pop standard room -- and the view is much nicer, which I think makes the walk a lot better for kids.

The pool and play areas are the best of all the values, so if you plan to hang out at the resort I think it is more than worth it.

Also, IMO, it has the best food court.

We stayed in both the Little Mermaid rooms and the Lion King suites. The walk back to Little Mermaid was daunting at the end of the day but I would do it again over Pop or any of the All-Stars.

We are thinking of trying the rooms at AoA next summer instead of a suite! Great info!

I stayed at AoA in a LM room (building 9) when I still walked with a cane, before I started using ECVs at Disney. The walk to the LM section didn't bother me. I timed myself walking from the bus to my room and it came in around 7-8 minutes each time. You could shorten it by walking along the sidewalk by the parking lot rather than "through" the resort, but it was pretty neat to stroll through the Lion King section.

I'd stay there again in a heartbeat if they started offering discounts for the LM rooms, but I guess it's still too popular for that.

(Exact trip dates a work-in-progress!)

I've stayed in a LM room for three nights and I'm glad I did. It's a beautiful resort. I wouldn't want to stay in a LM room in the heat of summer for a week or more though. The walk would definitely get to me. For short trips during cooler weather, it's great!

NO. Not worth it.

I stayed there 8 weeks before a half marathon so I was reasonably fit. For my party (less fit than me) to go to food court and back it was 20 min RT--made going for a snack or to refill mugs downright laughable.

Book a room at Pop and walk over to visit. the theming is truly incredible.

We enjoyed our LM room at AoA, but for us it is sort of a been there, done that. The walk didn't bother us, and the room was fine. Enjoyed the resort's theming. We have always liked Pop and if given the choice would probably go back there instead of returning to AoA. Especially since we didn't get a room discount on the LM room. We will take the cheaper option at Pop from now on.

I have to say for myself and DD not worth it, noisy, long walk, terrible bedspreads and small even for two of us. We are both healthy and walk a lot, but even after 7 days the walk was getting to us. I like a cup of coffee in the am and just to get one at the dining area was a pain. Coffee in the room was terrible! We have never stayed at a value again after our stay at LM rooms. The resort, however is so cool, the art and characters everywhere are very breathtaking. My daughter is a huge LM fan, however she says she wouldn't want to stay again. IMO better rooms, grounds, and food at a moderate for not much more at all.

If you aren't staying for the suites, I don't see any point in paying more to stay at LM. You can stay at a moderate with a preferred room for the same price. Love AOA though. There are 5 of us and love the suites.

We stayed in the Little Mermaid rooms last Sept/Oct and didn't find the walk a problem at all. It took us tops 5 - 7 minutes to walk from the main hall to our room. But I can understand it would take longer if you have young ones, but I wouldn't be put off from the Little Mermaid rooms because of the short walk.

After staying at AOA in cars suites I would stay at the Little Mermaid section, too. My daughter agreed after she saw it! We walked all over and used all three pools! LOL! We just loved it and I think after it was all said and done we (personally) worried to much about the distance, the food, etc., before we left! LOL! The grandkid's just loved all of it! They would have liked anywhere in AOA that we stayed!

What mod preferred room is the same price as a LM room?

If you are driving is there parking right by the LM buildings?

n/m Found the pdf map of the resort. We'll have a car so that makes that easy.
