The only way they would shoo you away is if the terminal was full to capacity. Boarding usually begins at 11:30am, so you'd probably be fine if you showed up a few minutes after that.

But I will point out that the boarding number you get will be the same, regardless if you arrive early, or not.

That being said, Open Boarding generally begins around 12:30-12:45 (anyone holding any boarding number may board).

We like starting our vacation as early as possible. Also want to get oriented with everything and make reservations that we missed out online.

really? we had an early-ish PAT, arrived shortly after our PAT, stood in CC member line for a longggg time (their computers were down, non-club members were getting checked in) and still got a high (11? 12?) boarding number...

which led me to believe that boarding number was more closely associated with arrival time than assigned PAT time...

What do you mean by early-ish?

We always choose the first PAT, get there just after that time and receive boarding number 3 (last 2 cruises).

We sailed The Fantasy in Feb. and had our kids and grandkids with us. We ended up not arriving to the ship till close to 1pm. We had a PAT of 10:30 but were slowed up by the family. We were unable to get any tickets to any of the tastings or mixology classes we wanted to try.
Just did our online check in for our November cruise (Just hubby and me) I snagged at 10:30 PAT and will not be late this time.

That was the first time we have ever gotten to the port so late, never again.

We arrive at the Port between 12pm-12:30pm and we find the Terminal is almost empty so it' a good time for us. We sail concierge though so we aren't worried about getting the certain Port Adventures or Bookings ect.

As there are conflicting posts and answers here it might be good that everyone posting states, the Ship they had the PAT for the Date and year of embarking, the port they embarked on if not Port Canaveral, and their PAT.

I suspect some responses are older cruises previous years or maybe different home ports and thats causing confusion on what is occurring now.

I believe it was an 11am PAT (we are last minute bookers, so the earliest are never available for us... this time we have a 10:45) but we did not arrive 'til closer to noon, and they had not started boarding yet, so we were there when they called #1, yet we were 11 or 12...

This was on the Magic in May of 2014.

That explains it. The process it different for the classic ships, especially if it's not out of Port Canaveral.

This is it in a nutshell here posters are comparing organge and apples, old ships new ships, port canveral other home ports and even recent and three years ago. Even concierge and Platinum, to a new cruiser.

If everyone posts what personal experiences they had to a PAT it will help everyone understand.

Looking at signature lines indicates some people haven't sailed out of PC for years.

Do you remember what time you got on the ship?

Our first cruise was on the Dream in Sept 2013. We stayed at WL prior and took DCL transportation to the port -- pickup at WL at 11:15, leaving WL grounds by 11;28, arrive at the port at 13:00, in our room by 13:40.

After dumping our carry-ons in our room we went to the MDR that handled dining changes, as I have severe food allergies and we were instructed to go there to confirm everything -- it took a while, but while there I was able to pre-order dinner.

By the time we were done, the MDR serving lunch was closed, which was not good because with food allergies one is supposed to eat in the MDRs. We went up to Cabanas, explained I had food allergies, and waited a bit for a chef to come out. He made me a wonderful meal, but by the time we were receiving it Cabanas was starting to close up. We were not rushed, but it felt kind of awkward being there at that time.

We were unable to do the ship tour we wanted to do becasue we were tied up with food issues.

We have decided for our cruise on the Fantasy this November we are going to take a town car service to and from the terminal. We want to get there early enough that we can eat in the MDR, meet with the dining people, and take a tour of the ship. That means arriving early.

That is why we will be.
