Weather and fastpass+

I can't believe I don't know this but if a ride is closed due to weather during your fastpass return time, what happens? Can you come back later? How would thet know you had fastpass for it earlier? We leave in 8 days and seeing the weather forecast has me concerned. Also if storming and boats can't operate, do they automatically add bus service?

1- Yes, or substitute another FP+ ride.

2- It goes into the computer file when a ride is closed.

3- Don't pay any attention to a forecast that is more than 12-24 hours in advance. No, I'm not kidding.
Also, it can be pouring rain in, say, Epcot, and the sun can be blazing in MK (and vice versa.)
Also, many times the rain will last under an hour, or so.

4- If it looks like they will be out-of-service for a long time.

I've lived in Central Fla, for 10 years. I have a bunch of stories about rain and no rain...but a good example was a couple of years ago

I had to run over to WWoS to pick up a race packet, I did it while everyone else stayed at MK. I got back, to MK and everyone was DRENCHED to the bone. The sky had opened up and dumped on them.

In that time, say 2 hours, the only water I saw was in my water bottle. It was sunny and bright the whole time, and by the time I got back to MK the streets had dried.

So the computer knows when ride was closed....do we just scan our band and go on in any time as long as same day?

Yes.

If you have any trouble, tell the CM at the entrance about the ride closure
(and the approx. time) earlier in the day.

We had two rides canceled b/c of weather.

Later on that day we rec'd an email saying they were sorry and that we could go on ONE (out of a list of 6) anytime that day up until park closing. The list included the more popular rides.

Ok … I found the email and have copy/paste below:

___begin of email….
We're sorry, your previously confirmed FastPass+ selection for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train from 4:40 PM to 5:40 PM on 07/06/2014 needs to be changed because the experience is temporarily unavailable.

As a replacement, you may now visit any one of the following FastPass+ experiences on 07/06/2014, starting at 4:40 PM through anytime during normal Theme Park operating hours (Valid Theme Park admission is required and your FastPass+ selection cannot be redeemed during Extra Magic Hours):

Experiences*
Splash Mountain®
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin®
Haunted Mansion®
The Barnstormer
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad®
Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid
Pirates of the Caribbean®

There is no action needed to select the experience in advance. During the designated day and time, just arrive at the FastPass+ entrance to one of the experiences above and touch your MagicBand to enter!

This was not the case for us. We were just there on Sunday, and were the next in line to get on BTMR when it was stopped due to lightning. The ride operator told us there was nothing he could do for us because our magic bands had already been scanned, so the FP appeared used to the system. He said they only issue new FP's if the ride is shut down due to mechanical error, but not for bad weather.

2- THAT, not so much.

I wonder if that was done just for that ride since it is such a hot ticket now? Did the ride shut down while you were in line, or before you scanned your magic bands?

The rain storm on June 20 shut down quite a bit of activity. We had FP for the 7DMT at 6:30p. Rain had stopped abut 45 minutes earlier, but there was still thunder and lightening in area. They were unsure if the ride would re-open, but we were told that if it did, we could come back anytime until park close. Otherwise, just go on any other FP attraction.

DH saw CM hand "paper passes" to folks in line when the rain started on an attraction he was walking by. Sorry, he is unsure what ride it was, but we were in Magic Kingdom. I don't think this was a usual protocal since we received special FP earlier in the week from a CM.

Follow Robo and Mesa...They know!

We chatted with him for a few minutes after the ride was closed down, not being rude or pushy at all, and that is exactly what he told us. I almost went over to guest services to see if there was anything they could do for us but decided it really wasn't worth it.

Seriously, it was like we had all had "kick me" signs on our backs this trip! We went during the unlucky window of having no EMH evenings at MK at all, had room issues upon check-in, sat down at ESPN Club to order my favorite dish only to find out it was taken off the menu, and so on. "Let it Go" became our theme song for this vacation!

And even then, who the heck knows. October 2010. Local weather has been talking about a HUGE tropical storm thing that is supposed to go through. OMG rain and wind. That sort of thing. Even the night before they are talking about how bad it will be so we changed our plans from a park to DTD.

I think it sprinkled for like 15 minutes the whole day. It was cold and dreary, but nothing like they were saying even the night before. WAY off on that forecast for sure.

In other words, no reason to look at weather now.
