Transport pre and post Canaveral

We (family of 4) are staying at a non Disney resort for 2 days prior to our cruise then staying at Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge for 2 days post cruise.

Currently, I have reserved a rental through Budget prior and post for roughly $150ish each rental. I thought this would make the most financial sense, but I haven't really researched other options, like Disney Transfers or what not. If we stay at a Disney property post cruise, is that shuttle service free to AKL?
Do I just stick with my rental plans such that I have a car for those 4 Orlando days?

Stick with the rental plans there is magical express to/ from the airport that's free but not DCL transport to and from port that costs per person.

So you will have to pay our a lot for transfers with DCL

You can decide when you wasn't to drive to port.

One thing though you can purchase one DCL transfer and they will transfer the luggage for you from WDW to port save you driving it and paying porters at the port end thru will take six bags on that service do tell them it's bags on,y.

DCL transfers from port to WDW resorts costs $35.00 per person. That's pretty close to the cost for your rental car. Your call.

Depending how soon your cruise occurs -- you may find discounts for the car rentals. I usually find the best ones about 6 weeks prior to when I need the rental.

Otherwise, DCL transfers for 4 are $140 one-way (Port Canaveral to AKL). You might do the pre-cruise car rental then post-cruise use DCL transfers. It's convenient, sort of a nice way to "continue the magic" as you switch from ship to resort. But no other particular benefit.

Magical Express (ME) will be free from AKL to MCO when you are ready to head home.

Enjoy your cruise!
