Can Someone Explain How Concierge Bookings Can and Can't Be Modified, Please?

Hi All,

We have booked a 5-night itinerary from Miami for our first-ever cruise, with a concierge 1-bedroom suite on Magic.

I do understand that the deposit is not refundable. However, I was told we could "modify" the booking if need be.

So am I allowed to change the date of our trip, if something comes up? We're not cruising until November 2015.

Are we allowed to change to a different cabin category? I only realized that Magic doesn't have a concierge lounge or sun deck after booking, so I was kind of wishing I could change my stateroom to a category 5E (understanding that the deposit isn't refundable, but would be transferable.)

What about a different itinerary, altogether? When I look at the DCL website, it says that "changes in vacation date" will be "considered cancellations." So now I'm confused.

THANKS, everyone!

PS: When I look at my reservation on the website, it says we cannot modify the booking online, but can only do it by phoning. Is that normal for concierge?

Yes you can change it or modify up to PIF as you say the deposit will always be non refundable but the monies paid transferable to a new cruise or downgrade

Yes, we had to call to make changes to our concierge reservation. We were originally going in December this year and have now changed it to January. We are doing a back to back cruise on the Dream.

Just don't use the word "cancel". Only say "change". That was the advice given to me!

You will only forfeit your deposit if your reservation number changes. Move your cruise date, upgrade or downgrade your room with reckless abandon. Just do not remove anyone from your reservation (the removed person will forfeit his deposit). Do not cancel and rebook.

Assuming you didn't book with a travel agent, when you talk to Disney, tell them you'd like to move your reservation to a new date or you'd like to change the room on your current reservation. No problem. As PP mentioned, do not say the word "cancel."

I moved a concierge deposit and remove my spouse from the reservation, added my daughters friend and lost none of the deposit. As long as the original reservation holder remains on the reservation, there are no issues.

Good point. Don't cancel anyone without replacing them on the reservation. If you simply remove someone from a concierge booking, you will lose his deposit.
