Also just wanted to add that we sailed concierge on the Dream in 2011, & we restocked our fridge ourselves. Never used the sodas, and the staff just gave us 6 packs of Evian as we wanted.

No more blender drinks ... does this mean no more smoothies for the kids?

We sailed Concierge on the Dream last year in October and found the kounge to be a great place to chill out, chat with other guests and also chat with our hosts. Sad to hear that blended drinks and smoothies are no longer being offered, we saw a few kids drinking those in the lounge, hopefully they reconsider this change

Haha Beermam.....'worth it' is subjective. May not be for others but defo is for some.

Also you can put magnets on your door. If you get strong ones they work a treat well they did for our 1 bedroom suite door on the Dream last month.

To add my ten cents worth here--I can't for one second believe that the Concierge Hosts are totally unsalaried--and Disney would then not even SUGGEST a tip but quietly suggests tips are "appreciated".

I have several times contacted DCL about this and get the stock answer--"All
DCL employees operate under contract agreed to by the Company and the employees". Period. Nothing else.

IN other words--they don't want you to know.

So I assume they receive some salary and I will tip accordingly!!

We never had a single smoothie on a cruise, so "worth it" is very different for different people.

You certainly can put magnets on the doors. They just have to be very strong magnets. Because it's not just metal there, but a lovely beautiful gorgeous veneer over the metal door. I personally didn't see magnets on concierge doors, but then we were in a stateroom that didn't allow us to see many other doors (12528 on the Dream, where it was actually faster to leave the hallway and go in the main door to the lounge vs walk down the hall, and we could just leave our door and go out the door to the deck instead of walking down a hall). The doors are absolutely beautiful without magnets, at least on Dream, but if you get the right magnets you can put those on the doors.

What am I going to do with a booking that expires in April 2016, if we always sail in the fall and already have next year's fall cruise booked? 18 months is a bit stingy, IMHO. Give me 2 years if you want me to rebook.
Totally agree!!!

Not true.. If you are staying concierge then you need Neodymium Disc magnets...Those magnets work for sure on the concierge doors...

I called guest services to ask what was recommended for tipping concierge and they didn't know what to tell me. We were on a four night and the hosts really did nothing for us. I wouldn't even have recognized them during the sailing. Our room host was wonderful.

We sailed Concierge on the Fantasy in April. I loved the Concierge team of PJ, Amanda and Tracy. They were wonderful As for blended drinks, I never had one before when we have sailed Concierge. They do make a wonderful margarita on the rocks though. We were quite happy with wine and the occasional vodka drink. We are now saving towards our 3rd cruise in Concierge. I can't imaging sailing any other way.

What ship were you on?

And your experience is why, IMO, they don't give a suggested amount. It's all very personal.

Just got off the dream sunday. No more mixers for fun mixed drinks-disappointing as we had really enjoyed yummy drinks before dinner our last dream cruise.
We did a back to back and neither time did the concierge hosts tell us about being able to "jumpthe line" for customs but both times when someone saw us with our concierge cards they took us to the front. (You can be escorted out by one of the concierge hosts but we had opted not to do that).
Anyways, I dont remember this from our last cruise.

I wonder if the elimination of the blender drinks didn't have more to do with the time it took the bartender to make the blender drinks? The bartender would never use the blender right in the lounge, but would go into the kitchen area to prepare the drink x how many blender drink requests x how many different types of drinks (daquiris v. Pina colada, etc). Blender drinks are always more time consuming to serve than pouring a gin and tonic or Jack and coke or glass of wine or handing out a beer. I would very much like to see them improve their beer selection though.
