Question Concierge Upgrade: Fantasy

For those of you who got them... can you tell me when? I am at 50 days and counting...( August 9EC) and just wondering if this really happens and how many people actually do get upgrades at port for a 7 day cruise?

This may help.

Fantasy is very popular and at peak times concierge will be full, at off peak times there is a chance, suite guests have non refunded able deposits so when booked are committed, they can move them on before PIF but it's less frequent than other types of stateroom.

Completely Full

For our cruise the end of May this year, I checked a couple weeks before our cruise and there were openings in almost every Catagory of room, including 4 1BR suites. When we arrived at the port at 10:30 the day of the cruise to check in they already had the signs out that no upgrades were availible, the boat was completely full.

Where were you checking?
Did you have a TA check for you?

I used Cruisefish.net and set up an alert so that I knew when concierge staterooms opened up. I was able to snag an upgrade at 120 days out, but there have been no openings since.

You or your TA can call DCL to check availability or use the DCL website. If what you want is available, you can upgrade yourself by paying the difference. Or you can hope there is availability at the port the day you embark. Go to the supervisors desk after check in, if something is available you will be charged whatever the going rate is for port upgrades.

If you are looking or hoping for a complimentary (free) upgrade from a Cat. 9 to a concierge level suite, that has never happened and probably never will. At most a Cat. 9 OV may be upgraded to a verandah but not a concierge level cabin or suite

You could try putting your name on a wait list also....that's what we've done for 12/18/2015 sailing out of Galveston for concierge.

Yes. I believe I paid about $5 to set up my alerts. I set mine up when I booked the cruise back in November. There were no alerts whatsoever until around the 120 day mark. There have been non since then and we're about 42 days out now.

The odds are that a cabin won't open up because the PIF day has come and gone. Alerts on cruisefish are fairly cheap, so if you want to take that small chance, I'd go for it.

Of our 6 Concierge cruises on the Dream 2 were as a result of being on the DCL Concierge wait list. Not sure if it means anything but, both came through way before their respective PIF dates, were due.
That being said we were able to upgrade at the port once, a couple of years back for an October cruise. We were at the port early & just checked almost as a goof & there was a cat V & a 1 bedroom available, we took the Cat V. Since then we've sailed on the Fantasy twice & tried for concierge upgrades at the port with no luck.

The first cruise was actually this past New Years Eve, while the 2nd will be this coming October. So basically one High season & one Low season. Hope it helps.

Successfully upgraded at port...

We upgraded to a Cat V at port in Mid-March 2013. We were on the first DCL bus to leave MCO, and I'm not sure that anyone else had gotten down to the supervisor's desk yet. There were 2 1 BRs and 1 Cat V at the time, IIRC.

Can anyone say what the cost of the upgrade at port was and what they upgraded from/to? Thanks.

Went from a 5D to the V. 4 people in room. Upgrade was $1K. (Keep in mind that I had paid for 3 out of the 4 with DVC points at original booking).
