I've booked this for lunch with the fantasmic package. Is it good, bad, just ok?

I would search the restaurant board, or post this question there.

All the threads I've read

have loved it, although one person did complain about the food on one of their visits, they put it down to them not being very hungry and very tired children

I just got back this past week from WDW and during my stay we also did the Fantasmic Dining at Mama Melrose. My opinion of the restaurant is that it was ok. I had the Chicken Parmesan with vegetables instead of the spaghetti as my entree and thought it was cooked just fine but the sauce was nothing that stood out and the vegetables were overcooked. Service was a bit slow with our server and while she was not rude she certainly was more business than anything else. Would I go back? Probably not.

We did the Fantasmic dinner in May and we were overall pretty pleased. Ambiance was nice food was pretty good. We will probably go back next trip without booking the Fantasmic package.

We're another family who thought the food was just ok...not bad, but not great either. BUT to be fair, we have a lot of excellent authentic Italian restaurants in our area so we went in with pretty high expectations.

If you've never been, I say try it for yourself, everyone is different and you may be pleasantly surprised.

I think the food is average. If the package is a must then you have limited options from the get. If you are looking for good Italian and the package was a bonus I would opt for Tutto Italia in EC.

If you're eating at Mama's just to get the pass for Fantasmic, you might want to go to the second show instead. We ate at Mama's to get the pass and the food was okay, but we didn't think it was worth it.

We still went to the first show but we found that if you wait till the first show get's out, you'll be able to find good seats at the second show. On our next visit, we will skip Mama's and try another restaurant instead and go to the second show.

We really enjoyed Mama Melrose in 2012! We had a great server and the food was good. My husband LOVED the caprese salad. It probably isn't a must-do for me, but DH keeps asking if we're able to make it back there! As others have said, with limited options in DHS, I think this is good one. We really enjoy the atmosphere at Sci-Fi too, but even with their awesome burgers and shakes, I'm usually burgered out and MM is a good option. We are trying to fit in 50's Prime Time this trip as it has been a LONG time since I've been there and DH hasn't ever! Hope this helps!

We finally ate there after many years of HBD and Fantasmic package. I personally am always willing to pay a little more to avoid the cattle lines. Time is money to me.
So we did not do Fantasmic last visit but we did try MM after everyone said that was the preferred package over HBD.
HBD is better food wise but you should expect that since its much more expensive.
We did enjoy MM more than we thought we would. Much of that might have been the fact that we were starving by the time we sat down.
As NY'ers any italian joint has alot to stand up to.
That being said, the meal was decent, a step above an Carrabbas or Olive Garden and way better than Tony's.
I would definetily go back, and if doing dinner package, I would go with it over HBD on a budget.

It was ok, nothing special. Our service wasn't great, though.

We enjoyed our F! dinner package at Mama's. Husband said this was his best steak of the trip (which included Citrico's). Thought the dessert platter was great, too. The place was crazy busy - free dining time, but are meal wasn't rushed or too slow. Waitress took great care of us. It was a festive dinner, and we will definitely return.
