It looks like that is an Alaska sailing specific bag. I know Dream/Fantasy cruisers are still getting rope handled totes. Not sure about Magic cruisers yet - we'll see what they got on the TA and Med cruises.

I don't think it was an Alaska specific bag because it doesn't say anything about Alaska on it. However I was on the 15 night Panama Canal cruise the week before and got the beach tote type bag. I'm pleased to report that they seemed to have solved the popping grommet problem.

Thanks so much for posting that. Good to know they are still giving out the game tins (I'm assuming that is what the box on the right is)

I kind of hope they are switching them over to the new backpacks. I like the style of them much better than the beach bag purse.

I think they are more gender neutral also.

I didn't get the beach bag purse type one but I hope on the WBTA they are giving out the new backpack ones.

We were on the Fantasy May 10-17 and we received the gray one shoulder rope handle bag. I found it to be quite handy. We used it as swim bag mainly. It was great for our excursion(fit 3 DCL towels) and on castaway it held 3 snorkel masks, 2 towels, 2 cameras and a few beach toys. I didn't have any problems with it but I haven't used it since we got back either. It held up great on the cruise.

This is great, thanks for sharing. We got the rope tote thing on the May 19th repo, and my parents are booked on the EBPC. Will be interested to see what they get since my mom declined my rope tote bag

I sure hope they're on the fantasy on 6/7. They are way better than the tote. Although my daughter will be bummed because I already told her she could have my tote. I'm bringing my CC backpack from last year, just in case.

It would actually make sense to have a DIFFERENT bag for Alaska. The rope handle tote is very much "beach". Alaska is not really a "beach" cruise, so that bag makes less sense. It'll be interesting to see if it's just for the Alaska cruises or if it changes on all the ships.

I agree. I was expecting the backpack and it seems more functional. The totes were kinda cute but I haven't used mine yet b/c it's huge and I'm not sure what to do with it other than go to the beach. With the other bags they've given (red & black, blue backpack) we actually used those right away.

Since I REALLY don't like the totes they have been giving out, I sure hope they are switching over to this new style of backpack! We sail on the Dream in Sept. Hope if they switch they do it by then.

It's more functional for an Alaskan cruise than a beach tote with rope handles. I've been cruising since 2005 (although 11 of our cruises have occurred between 2010 & now) and Castaway Club Merch doesn't typically say anything related to the destination.

What is the game tin? We did not get any game in Jan or May on the Magic.

We sailed early April on the Fantasy and received the gold rope tote bag with game tin in each of our rooms. The game tin included a pad of paper, deck of cards and a "cruise O gram" game much like the bananagrams game. I love the game tin and we used one of the bags while on the cruise. I had read posts about the grommet problem but did not have issues with ours. I did pull on the knots on the inside of the bag for the rope handles to tighten them before I used it because the were very loose but other than that it was great. Held a lot of items. It was much bigger than I thought. I haven't used it since getting off the cruise but it seems to be made well.

I personally do not like the new one shoulder back pack pictured. I have had a very similar bag and hated it. Could not put much in it and it constantly fell off my shoulder when I was trying to tend to my children. I will just have to wait and see what we end up getting next year on our Med cruise. Even if they change the bag I hope they don't change the game tin. That is one of the best gifts we have gotten besides the beach towels.

I don't like that they started doing color specific bags. I'm newly gold and I really don't care for that yellow (or any yellow).
