Best thing I ever ate - Jiko.

We have an upcoming trip in September and a dinner ADR at Jiko.

We will be on the DxDP.

What have been your favorite appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc.?

Also, I had not considered Simba's Clubhouse prior to someone else recommending it.

Would you take a well-behaved five year old...I could bring an iPad and let her play games quietly or draw, etc while we eat or should we enjoy a date night?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions! I truly appreciate it.

I did the Sunset (Waynama) Safari. The safari was followed by dinner at Jiko. They gave me a several appetizers, several entrees and several desserts to try. The Botswana-style "Seswaa" Beef Short Rib was really really really really good.

I don't think I put enough really's in there.

They brought several sauces, and told me which one to put on this dish. It was fantastic with the sauce. It was fantastic without the sauce.

It was an entree.

It was definitely the best thing I've ever eaten in about 10 trips to Disney World.

There is bar-type seating next to the oven where they do the flatbread pizzas. They had me sit there. I wasn't really paying much attention to what was going on in the rest of the restaurant, so I can't answer the question about kids.

I adore the naan appetizer with all the dips. They also have a great salad which I can't remember, I have dined there several times, never a bad meal. The wine list is also terrific. A child will do fine. The staff is terrific.

I don't even know if this is on the current menu but the beef bobotie rolls appetizer was very good.

For entree I recommend the filet with mac and cheese. It doesn't come with mac and cheese but you can sub for it.

For me its all about the wild boar tenderloin in Chakalaka. Our server even offered it as an entree sized portion on one of our later trips when I mentioned how much I liked it.

I have also enjoyed the chicken Peri Peri sauce.

Our DS loves Simba's Cubhouse and actually asks if he gets to go when we are planning the trips. I think he actually enjoys it far more than he would enjoy sitting at the table with us. Its a great service and allows you to have a leisurely meal without the pressure of working against even the best behaved child's patience and attention span. You are going to have to pay for the child's dinner anyway so it works against the price of the Cub House and if you are going to Jiko it is an experience to be savored, IMO.

The filet with mac & cheese when we were there in 2007!!! It was the best steak I had ever had! When we were there in 2013 they no longer had it with mac & cheese on the menu but our server said we could still get it that way!

early in the evening ONLY if they are capable of sitting quietly WITHOUT having to be plugged in. I am of the opinion that such things are inappropriate for ANY restaurant, let alone one that has an atmosphere like Jiko.

My last trip there is was well after 8 when we sat down and the meal was greatly disturbed by a toddler and 7/8 year old who were obviously bored out of their skulls and over tired to boot.

I usually don't order the same thing twice at restaurants, but I'm planning on definitely ordering the wild boar tenderloin again. Probably the best app I've ever eaten. I'm sad that the duck no longer appears to be on the menu as I was looking forward to trying that again too.

Wild Boar Appetizer is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. It is not big enough to share.

The Lamb 2 ways is fabulous.

This is one of my favorite restaurants and we eat there every trip.

The menu changes frequently, and I don't think I've ever ordered the same dish twice. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by any of their lamb preparations, though. For appetizers, you could seriously just point blindly and be impressed. They're all excellent. I like the soups and flatbreads.

We have been there several times and the Wild Boar was always great!! Between the four of us we have ordered quite a few things and they have all been great! It is our second favorite place (V&A is number 1)! Enjoy!

DH & I are planning our trip in November and he said he definitely wanted to go back to Jiko! We love that place!!! I had the filet and mac n cheese last time and it was SOOOO GOOD!!! I had a flat bread appetizer that had bbq chicken and I think it also had slivers of apple. It was delicious!!! And their creme brulee is also excellent!!!

Can't wait til our trip!!!!
