Lunch With An Animal Specialist at Sanaa

Quick question...

How is this meal "served"? I booked it for our family (me, DH, DD11 and DD9). It is a pre-paid meal but it never dawned on me to figure out what we will be eating. Are there a few items served family style or are we ordering entrees from the menu?

Thanks!

Bread service is served family size. Then everyone gets their own entree but it is preset lunch so you don't get a choice. When we were there it was butter chicken and a fish with rice. Desserts were delicious and we were given 3 samples and everyone had their own This was last June. I would think of you had food allergies/situations you could tell them at check in.

I Googled the menu before booking to get an idea what might be served. http://blog.undercovertourist.com/20...-disney-sanaa/ That link has some photos so you can hopefully get an idea if it will work for your kids.

I had some food restrictions, so I just told them those over the phone.

Hmm...I see that shrimp is one of the entrees. Nobody in our family eats seafood of any type. When DD11 and I did the Wild Africa Trek, I knew that there was some sort of fish that was offered in the "snack". The CM suggested that I just have them note that we have a seafood allergy and they will substitute something else. I don't want to be a bother, but I also do not want any food to go to waste. I am 100% certain that if they bring out shrimp (or any other type of fish/seafood) it would go untouched. I'm wondering, according to the review, the chef comes out ahead of time to discuss the food offerings. Should I mention our "aversion" to seafood at that time? Or would it be more appropriate to just have them note a "seafood allergy"? It's not that we want something specific, it's more that we DON'T want something specific. They could bring out just about anything else and we'd try it...just not seafood.

When I did it the chef came out while we were eating and described each of the dishes. That would not be the time to discuss your likes and dislikes. Maybe others have more recent experience that would be more helpful.

Thanks...that information is very helpful. If the chef comes out *with* the food, it is definitely too late to mention that the shrimp can go back. I think to be on the safe side, I will have them note a "seafood allergy". I'm still torn about that...I'm not looking for special treatment, I just don't want them to make us food that we know we won't eat, KWIM? For all I care, they don't even need to substitute it with anything. Omitting it completely is fine with me. At least that way I know it isn't going to waste. I hate having food that goes untouched. I encourage my kids to at least try everything once. We have all tried various types of seafood at least once and nothing has ever been eaten twice. I'd rather not have it at all than be guilted in to choking down something I don't like to prevent it from going to waste.

Not liking seafood isn't a big deal. Call the dining line and have them note that your party won't eat seafood. They will sub it for somethjng else or tell them at check in. I wouldn't wait until you sit down if you can help it - they can plan better knowing on advance. They will probably give you 2 chicken. It is a fabulous lunch. You will enjoy it!

I've done the Lunch with the Animal Specialist 3 times (so far) and each time it was as described above. The bread service was served family style, but then for everything else, each person got his own plate with 3 small samples of 3 different restaurant offerings, which were described by the chef. For example, for the salad course, we each got 3 small salads, which together made one full serving. At one Lunch, there were children, and the restaurant had prepared children's' offerings for them, even though they hadn't asked beforehand. For someone who's new to Sanaa, it also serves as a great way to get to know Sanaa's offerings and what you might like.
