We love the fishing at WDW. The guides are really great and they help you as much as needed. Our fishing trips at WDW are one of the "can't miss" highlights of our trip. If this is something that you are even slightly interested in then I highly recommend checking it out.

Call this number, 1-407-824-1219 to talk to the Fishing CM's (and NOT the generic call center workers). These Fishing CM's will be able to help you plan your fishing trip much better than the call center workers.

This is the monster I caught at CBR resort last March, 2014.

Fishing might be my way to get my DH back sooner! He would love that!

Our room is amazing!!! We have lagoon view that looks over the wedding gazebo. We are loving it here so far.

Off to bed because we have to get up early for breakfast with cinderella tomorrow.

I'll check in tomorrow to see if I can help anyone.

It's great to see a new thread . We will be checking into BC in 4 days...I am so excited I can't contain myself . Unfortunately before we leave my family will have to attend a wake/funeral for my uncle who passed away early yesterday morning. It's heartbreaking, not just because of who he was, but the fact that he was such a huge Disney fan himself. I will be thinking of him a lot while we are on our trip.

The problem I have had with the boats in the morning is not that they are not running early enough, but that they don't necessarily have room for everyone waiting at the dock.

My suggestion is to be out at the boat dock 50 mintues before your scheduled breakfast time. If you don't get on a boat 35 minutes before your ADR time, bail on the boat and walk.
That is pretty much my approach on a typical DHS morning. The Friendship boats have never been all that friendly to me.

Thanks for answering, Dee!

I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. Your uncle would want your family to have a fabulous vacation. It sounds like you have a busy few days ahead.....just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Everything will get done.

The guide was paying special attention to my nephew, helping him bait his hook and bring the fish in when he got one. That was great for the rest of us as we could enjoy fishing with out having to stop and help my nephew. It's catch and release so the guide would help take the fish off of the hook for anyone who needed the help and slide it back into the water. My nephew has been getting about 5 fish during these two hour trips so it keeps him entertained. He also spent some time playing with the bait fish that were swimming around in the holding tank.

When you call that number (1-407-824-1219) let the guys know when you are coming for your trip. The smart thing to do would be to let them tell you where the fish are the most active right when you are at WDW for your trip. Then you would go to that location as opposed to picking a predetermined location. Of course you would have to wait until right before your trip to call and figure out where you would be going BUT it's only a cab/car ride away on Disney property!

As an example of this we had a REALLY GREAT fishing trip in Bay lake one year. We booked the next year's trip at Bay lake thinking it would be the same but the fish were the most active at Carribean Beach Resort. When went out the second time during that same week our guide said we should go to CBR and that's where we had more success.

So the next time we book our fishing trip we are going to call that number. I would call and reserve in advance of the trip as opposed to a few days before because they don't have that many guides on call.... waiting for last minute reservations, and if you don't reserve the trip in advance you may be out of luck.

We are going to ask for Dan from Apple Valley Ohio, who is very knowledgeable and very kid friendly. I've heard that all the guides are great so no sweat if you don't get Dan, but we REALLY LOVE DAN!!!

We are going to reserve a fishing trip but let them know that we want the guides to tell us where to go the week of our trip based on how active the fish are during the week we are there.

When you call that number it's a DIRECT link to the fishing dept. and not the call center with the general reservation agents who know next to nothing about the fishing trips. The guys are frequently out helping people with the boats etc... so don't be afraid to leave a message.

When you do things this way you are going to let the experts tell you exactly where the fish are biting for maximum enjoyment!!

Two hours on the lake is not too long for anyone, even people who don't fish and the guides are all about making that experience as fun and as comfortable as possible. There are sodas and water on the boat, towels to wipe your hands, a guide to bait the hooks and take the fish off and comfortable seats to sit in and enjoy the beauty of the setting. Even if you don't fish I would consider going along just to enjoy the experience it is that fun! The boats hold 5 people so there will be room for you.

~NM
Thank you for taking the time to tell me all this. I have wrote down notes!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!

Just wanted to drop in and say hi! We are going to be staying at Beach Club this October 31-Nov 6th...our first time! We are very excited! This is actually the first time we've stayed at a deluxe resort! (We've stayed in Villas before at Saratoga Springs, but never at a deluxe hotel!)

Thanks so much for all the awesome info in this thread. It has been really interesting to read.

Okay, so after falling too far behind, I'm all caught up on this thread. There are so many things to comment on from excited "Yays", to sad condolences, and back to some smiles and laughs but I'm not able to comment on each and every post that I'd like to.

My family has been busy lately. My husband and I spent the week of May 3-9 down in Fort Myers, Florida with another couple. We've been friends with this couple forever (meaning since Kindergarten, for me) and had a great time going to the beach, doing some shopping and spending a couple of days in Key West. Given the loonnnng winter many of us on the boards have been enduring, it was amazing to have 6 straight days of glorious sunshine. (I totally get why Teena moved to Florida!)

These are big times for our 17-year old son. Our time in Florida was his first major time at home alone and he did a fantastic job of responsibly taking care of himself and our dog. In even bigger news our extremely introverted, independent son shocked us this week by telling us he is going to his prom. He's never been anywhere near a school dance so we didn't see that one coming. After a few days of discussion on what to wear (noting that he should aim higher than his desire to just wear an old shirt and one of his dad's ties) we got him into a menswear store on Saturday where the clerk was able to convince him that wearing a proper suit was a good idea. So my son is growing up fast and I can't wait to see him all decked out in his new clothes. His long hair and current choice of shoes are still questionable but we have another weekend before prom where we could make some headway on those fronts.

This is a holiday weekend celebrating "Victoria Day" in Canada. Officially we use this day to mark the Queen's birthday but in reality it marks the beginning of summer where people try to get outside, enjoy some beverages (which is why many call it the May 2-4 weekend, because there are 24 beers in a case) and end the day with some fireworks. We aren't campers and I'm not a beer drinker, but I did enjoy a glorious afternoon with a walk in the sun, followed by catching up on the Dis board with a margarita at my side.

Now let's get this back on topic.... The next big thing in this house is to count down the next 90 days until we arrive at the Beach Club! We have our dining reservations in order and have spent some time this weekend discussion our Fast Pass desires.

This trip will be our first adults only trip, with our son staying home alone again. It is so strange to travel without him.

Our approach will be to hit a park in the mornings, enjoy the resort in the afternoon and then head out to a nice dinner with evening entertainment tbd.

Here's our dining reservation list:
  • Aug 17 - flight arrives at 1:15 pm which gives us plenty of time to settle in before our 7:30 pm dinner at Narcoossees
  • Aug 18 - an early 3:50 pm reservation at San Angel to leave us lots of time to get back to the BC for the 6:30 pm meet up (so can't wait!)
  • Aug 19 - 8:30 am Keys to the Kingdom tour (that is going to be fun) and then back at Cape May for dinner at 6:35 pm
  • Aug 20 - 7:30 pm at Tokyo Dining
  • Aug 21 - our first time checking out the Dolphin with a reservation at Shula's at 6:45 pm
  • Aug 22 - We are heading over to the Grand Floridian Café at 1 pm because we loved our meal there on our last trip, and then we go collect pretzel rolls at the Biergarten at 7:30 pm.
The trip is going to fly by so fast. I can't wait to eat at all these places, but we had at least as many choices that didn't make the list because we ran out of days.

I definitely want to drop by the Captain's Grill for breakfast one day, and am happy to note that the Keys to the Kingdom tour has lunch at the Columbia Harbour House because we love that place. So much fun dining, so little time!

And of course there will be stops around the world for pastries, caramel treats and beverages. When not at dinner we might be spotted at a France beverage cart or settled in at La Cava. (mmm)

We will also look at checking out Jelly Rolls at some point (hoping that you don't need reservations.)

I know I shouldn't wish the summer away, but I can't wait for the next 90 days to pass by!

Thank you all for the kind words, these next few days will be tough between going to the wake and funeral, getting the house ready for us to leave, and finishing my packing that I will definitely be busy the next few days. The good thing is that these next 4 days will go by like a flash of light . As for my uncle, I know he will be looking down at us and smiling because WDW was his happy place too.
