Deck 2 on the Wonder

I just book by first cruise on the Wonder. Our stateroom will be on Deck 2 Oceanview, what is the noise level on Deck 2, and what is a good area to book. My husband is worried about getting seasick, and I heard lower is better for movement. The rest of the group are on Deck 6, would it be better to change to and inside room on Deck 6 and give up the view and split bath. Being near the rest of the group is not a necessity, but a good night sleep is, so I am worried about noise and movement of the ship.

We love, love, love Deck 2! Noise isn't an issue but you will want to avoid the staterooms underneath the nightclubs and those that are all the way aft. You can search specific stateroom numbers in the room reports section of the DIS to see what others have said about each stateroom.

Our favorite Oceanview staterooms on Deck 2 are the one all the way Forward. They are slightly larger than most and there is minimal noise. They are under the far front of the theater so you will get a bit of noise during showtimes, but since you are usually either at dinner or the show during those times it really isn't an issue.

We sailed on our first cruise ever, on the Wonder in October. We were also on Deck 2. I was frantic with worry about getting sick on our cruise. We met some seasoned DCL cruisers in the airport boarding area and they said they were on Deck 2, midship, and assured me that is where you want to be! And they were right! WE LOVEDDDD being on Deck 2!!

When we looked at the deck plans and I saw our stateroom was sort of near the elevators and sort of near the laundry, I panicked a bit thinking it might be noisy. In the end, we didn't notice much noise at all. There was one night when there was a sort of creaking sound from the ship movement, but we slept really well every night of our cruise.

Edge is on Deck 2 and if you have a stateroom near Edge, you may notice more noise.

Overall, we loved being on Deck 2 and being able to quickly pop up the stairs to all that is on Decks 3 and 4. We found being on Deck 2 super convenient. Our DD13 was in Edge for hours every day and she wasn't allowed to leave Edge to walk back to our stateroom alone, we would meet her there to escort her back to our room, so that is another reason why we loved being on Deck 2. It was a great location for our family and I would book there again in a HEARTBEAT!! Have fun!! I think you will love it!

We were on Deck 2 in November. Room 2632. We had noise going into and out of ports (sounded like engine room noise). However, it did not interfere with having a WONDERFUL experience for 7 days. I slept better on that cruise than I have ever slept away from home in my life. (I usually don't sleep well on vacations at all).

As for sea sickness, we had two very rough days and I never felt overly sick (and I usually get very motion sick). I used sea bands and took Bonine every day starting a few days before the cruise. The only time I felt sea sick was when I tried to do the elliptical in the gym on a rough sea day while the ship was moving. I've also heard lower and midship or aft is better for sea sickness because the motion is smaller in those places.

Just throwing my $.02 in here -

We've always booked deck 2 rooms on the Wonder (as well as the Magic). We love the location, and will continue to do so.

Most of our rooms were underneath the passageway on the port side of the ship and the entryway to Parrot Cay. We've also been underneath Wavebands on the Wonder.

We had no noise issues in any of our rooms. Yes, you can hear "stuff" (mostly running feet, sometimes music), but I didn't find it bothersome.

Our rooms in the aft area we did hear the thrusters when docking in ports, but, as we were typically already up and going about our business then, it didn't interfere with sleeping.

We just got off the Wonder today and had 3 cabins on deck 2 (2042, 2044 and 2046). We had zero noise issues and everyone slept great. The location to the Edge was fabulous and it was great and extremely convenient to pop up to theater, adult areas, restaurants. We did miss having the verandah but I would have no problem re booking deck 2 in the future.

On our most recent cruise we were on deck 2 on the wonder right under right outside the entrance to parrot cay and we never noticed any major noise. We were on the 14 night panama canal cruising in september and it was great! We have sailed the wonder on 3 and 4 night cruises out of port cananveral more than any other cruise ship and have been in a variety of cabins and staterooms, and we thoroughly enjoyed our ocean view. I believe we were in 2110, it sounds familiar, but we could be lying. :good vibes It was somewhere around there! haha

On our last Wonder cruise we were deck 2 Aft. The noise coming into port was loud and it bothered us.`I felt as though we were crashing. The last cruise that we had taken before this was during hurricane Sandy. I am not sure that the noise would have bothered us if we had not sailed during Sandy.

We were in a deluxe inside stateroom #2643 on Wonder. I'm a light sleeper I could hear the creaking @ night. Whenever we entered or left a port, I could hear the thrusters. Whenever we entered port it would awaken me. I would brush my teeth & hair, change, take my camera, & went to the top deck to see the ship entering port. So quiet and calm with few people that early in the morning. My DH and kids were still sleeping by the time I got back.

Thanks for all the hints, the thrusters will not be a problem by husband is a early raiser.

Hopefully we will not need to worry about a hurricane in the North Pacific.

I bet you have beautiful pictures of the early morning ports. I love early morning sunrises also. I can't wait to take pictures.

Another one who loves the convenience of Deck 2. Have sailed on Deck 2 several times. #2546 is one of my fav cabins...or any cabin in the vicinity.

Thanks for the room number. Do you thank the same area on the other side of ship would be the equal convenience, for examble 2046?
