Are you looking for ways other than the bus? Because that's what we use and that's just fine.

Or, you could enter Epcot and walk to the front and take the monorail, but you would need hoppers and that takes a lot longer than the bus.

We have been very happy with the buses from BC to MK. Can't imagine that anything else is faster or easier with 2 young kids.

I would be at the bus stop 60 minutes before rope drop. The actual bus ride is about 12-15 minutes.

I agree with this. I think the buses are hit or miss at the Epcot resorts, so I would give yourself plenty of time. Sometimes they are only shared between the BC&YC, while other times they are shared among all 5 resorts, making it a longer ride before getting to your actual destination.

Bus from BC to MK is definitely the best choice. Allow plenty of extra time in the morning, that's a busy time for the buses.

Actually

Fastest way is to take a cab to Contemporary then walk to MK. You can get a cab at the front of the resort and it takes about 10-15 minutes to Contemporary and then less than a 5 minute walk. Takes away the wait for a bus (which can really vary). Costs about $20 including a tip (or did early last year).

It's .6 miles from the Contemporary lobby to the front gate of the MK. So unless you are a super fast walker, walking time is more like 10 - 12 minutes (not 5).

Cabs don't drop you off at the lobby. They drop you off closer to MK, so maybe a .3 mile walk. 5 minute walk. But assume it is 10 minutes then the cab still takes you less time than you'll spend waiting for a bus, boarding, riding, etc.

I wouldn't advise taking a cab unless you are running late for something critical. The bus can take time but it's free. Vacationing in WDW usually involves lots of bus transportation to and from the parks, unless you drive, so it's good to become familiar with the routes and timing. And always be prepared for the unexpected, like full buses, late buses, etc, because it will majorly diminish your anxiety when it inevitably happens.

This is just a difference in opinion - I would advise taking a cab whenever possible. I'm already paying thousands of dollars for the vacation and I'd much prefer to pay $20 for a cab from Yacht Club to Animal Kingdom (or wherever I'm going) and have the trip take 10 minutes (or however long the drive is) than walk to the bus stop, wait 5-25 minutes depending on time of day, hop on a crowded bus, perhaps have the bus stop at another resort, and then have a 10 minute ride to the park. We sometimes take the buses, especially if we aren't in a hurry (say returning to the resort in midday), but if you take a cab then you don't have to worry about late buses or full buses.

That said, a lot of people take the buses and don't mind the wait/ride.

We are staying at BC in April/May and I plan on being at the BC Bus area at 8 am for the 9am MK rope drop. We should get there with plenty of time to spare.

We stayed at Boardwalk just across from BC in Sept. and would occasionally walk through Epcot to go to MK- mostly for something different but definitely not for speed. You would need hoppers for this of course and you couldn't do this for rope drop- nor would I advise it even if you could.

Just FYI, the buses start running at 6:30am for folks who may have early park ADRs, so getting from BC to MK early enough for rope drop is no problem.
