Candy Cane Inn: Pool for older kids

I am super excited to finally try out the Candy Cane Inn. I am just concerned about the size of the pool. I am staying with my two kids ages 10 &12 in June for 6 nights. We plan on heading back to the hotel daily for a swim. Living in WA we don't get a chance to swim much so it's fun for us to add this in to our trip. We are not looking for any crazy large pool or anything but looking at the pictures I am concerned it might be fairly small and get crowded. Any summer pool experience at the CCI would be appreciated! I did find a cheaper rate at the Tropicana (even with their daily parking fee) and I know the pool there appears a bit bigger. I really want to give CCI a try after all the amazing reviews plus the free breakfast is great. Thoughts? Thank you!

We have never stayed at the Candy Cane Inn but it does seem their pool is likely around the same size as the main pool at the HOJO where we have stayed three times now.

Our kids are around the same age - and they loved the size of that pool.

The key I find is being off site, you may not see the same type of mid day pool traffic as you likely will at the onsite hotels, just due to distance for walking back to use the pools.

One day we walked through the GCH going from DCA to DTD and our kids paused to look at the pool there and noticed how crazy busy it was compared to the pool at the HOJO and my DD said "sure it's nicer, but look how busy it is!"

At DLR, off site pools are not the draw - as people are staying there to be at the parks - so we found mid afternoon pool days were great - it was not crazy busy, in fact we had a few days where we had the pool to ourselves - even in May last year when the weather was scorching hot.

The key is the later the afternoon break the busier the pools will get -say after 4PM.

Hope that helps.

We have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn numerous times. We find that the pool is fun and adequate for our needs. I have taken children 8 to 15 years old. The afternoon isn't as crowded as early evening.
