2015 Med Cruise Shoppers -- RCCL's itineraries are out

I realize there is a Royal Caribbean board now, but I'm posting this here because I know that many are waiting for DCL's 2015 Europe itineraries and will be comparing them to those of other lines.

It looks like RCCL will have 3 ships in Europe next summer: the Rhapsody, the Splendour, and the Allure (!). The Allure will be doing all 7-night Western Med cruises departing from Barcelona and Rome. The Rhapsody and Splendour, two of RCCL's smallest and oldest ships, will be doing more varied and interesting itineraries. Most of the itineraries on those ships will be 7-nights as well, although there are a handful of shorter and longer ones. The Rhapsody will be doing an 11-night and then a 10-night Black Sea Cruise at the beginning of June, which would be tough with many school schedules.

I checked prices on a couple of itineraries, and they don't exactly look cheap to me. It'll be interesting to see how DCL's itineraries and prices compare!

I might as well scratch the Med off my bucket list at those prices plus airfare. If RCCL is that expensive, I can only imagine DCL's prices.

Not all of royals europe schedule is out there are a lot more than the 3 you have named to come. Anthem, Adventure and Brilliance will sail out of the Uk and serenade will also do Northern Europe with prices released over the next few weeks.

Also Vision of the seas is in Europe. DCL has big competition this year especially with the giants of Allure of the seas and Norwegian Epic doing the med run.

Thanks for the 411! That is an impressive presence in Europe. We've never done a European cruise and want to go the Med our first time. I'm not thrilled with any of RCCL's Med itineraries, so I'm crossing my fingers that DCL will offer a few 10-12 day Med cruises in 2015 and that they won't be outrageously expensive (ha!). Do you know whether any of the other RCCL ships you named will go to the Med?

Adventure and Anthem will sail from Southampton and some of their cruises will be 14 night med cruises. Brilliance sails from Harwich and will only do Baltics/Norway/Iceland and Serenade I think goes from Copenhagen and will just do Baltics. I have heard that vision is in Europe but I don't know which port but probably is the med because I can't see them putting another in Northern Europe.

Would love to do a Black Sea cruise. Can never see DCL doing one either.

I can't pull up the prices but Allure usually prices similar to DCL pricing. It is interesting they have put so many ships out there for 2015.

The 13 night RCCL Baltic was about 10k for 2 people for a Junior suite. I don't think that is unreasonable. I have a feeling Disney will be maybe 5k more for a 7A.

I was just looking at June 2015 on RCCL's website (the 7 night western med on the Allure). It looks like they have a 7 night cruise that starts in Rome and then 3 days later is in Barcelona where it takes on an additional set of new 7 night cruisers. Is this typical?

I've seen this before on other cruise lines, and it always strikes me as odd. Seems like it would make booking a little more complicated since only some of the rooms would turn over on each embarkation day. I wonder what it's like on the mornings that some passengers are disembarking for good while others are trying to leave the ship for excursions.

Personally, I wouldn't want to cruise Europe aboard one of the ginormous megaships. I'm sure they are limited in terms of where they can port, and the Allure's itineraries just aren't appealing to me.

My understanding is that the Anthem (and Quantum) will be closer in size to the Freedom class ships than the Oasis class, and the size and the fact that the ship will be brand new appeal to me. I have a feeling that prices for Anthem will be really high, but time will tell!

Thanks again for all the detailed info about RCCL's European plans!

NCL also has their itineraries out (at least some). They have Epic that will be doing med cruises... I am holding out to see what Disney offers but I would personally love to go on the Epic mega-ship. It's only a few years old.

Thank you for the heads up! We are considering a trip to Europe in 2015, hadn't even considered a cruise (since we sure as heck can't afford the DCL price tag!). The ones they're running are more than reasonable though!

We did NCL Spirit last year. it's definitely not Disney but for half the price well worth it. It is so port intensive you are not on the ship that much. Don't miss out on Europe because DCL is too expensive. It was an amazing trip.
