Cabana rental yes or no?

Hello everyone, I need some advice about our 7 night thanksgiving cruise. This will be my families 2 nd cruise but the rest of our parties 1st DC. On our 1st cruise we did not get a cabana only because there are only 3 of us but on our 7night Thanksgiving cruise there will be 13 of us! So should we get a cabana and if u think we should is there 1 we should get? Thank you

For families/groups with multiple ages, I'd say a cabana is a nice thing. One thing, however, with 13 you'll have to get 2 cabanas, making it pretty pricey. They cost $549 per cabana (good for 6 people). You can add additional people up to a maximum of 10 for $50.00 per additional person. We're talking about $1158.00 for your group. You could just get 1 cabana, but those people not included in the cabana rental will not have access (be able to "just come in a talk a minute") to those in the cabana.

Your call.

Also, keep in mind that the cabanas are extremely popular and those in concierge and who have been on more DCL cruise often take them before you'll have a chance. It will be hard enough for you to get 1 cabana, let alone the 2 you would need to fit your whole party.

Personally I've never understood the popularity of the cabanas. There is plenty of room on the beach - get off the ship early and find a spot big enough for everyone. How much time would you really spend in the cabana?

I will agree with the other posters. Unless you are concierge, I would hazard to guess it would be near impossible to get a cabana and most likely IMPOSSIBLE to snag two......even if you are a platinum castaway cay member. Most cabanas get snatched up by concierge and that particular sailing I would expect to be at/near full occupancy.
For what it's worth we did rent one last time, and would do it again in a heartbeat but we still loved our visits prior to having cabanas available to us.

We got a cabana on our 2012 dream cruise. While nice i think they are overrated, i was on the beach a lot and perhaps spent an hour in the cabana. I am going to use the $550 dollars on a private snorkeling trip in Mexico instead on my next fantasy cruise

We were concierge for our Dream March 2013 cruise and I remember staying up till midnight the night they opened it up and they were all gone really fast. So, If I had not stayed up late to reserve our cabana we would not have been able to have one. We all loved our Cabana, we were in #7. It was super windy that day and they cancelled our parasailing and snorkeling, so we spent a lot of time using the cabana.

We are silver and last year on the Dream all the cabanas were taken as soon as we were able to book. This year we were on the Magic and able to book one on the family beach (again booked right a midnight when our window opened). There were only three of us and IMO it was absolutely worth the money. The private area of beach and all the small amenities made our day unbelievable.
