San Angel Inn for Tweens?

We have never eaten at the San Angel Inn, but I'm thinking we might want to try it on our next trip. Our kids will be 12 (almost 13) and 10, so adults by Disney standards. We will be paying OOP. Will the kids be allowed to order off the kids' menu? I know it is not an issue at most restaurants, but it seems like I heard San Angel might be an exception. Often, we'll get 3 adult meals for the 4 of us and share, but the adult meals don't sound like they will appeal to our kids. The kids' meals, however, sound like food they would enjoy (steak tacos, cheese quesadillas, even the grilled chicken or tilapia).

I have a 10 and 11 year old. I have had no trouble ordering off the kid's menu at San Angel Inn. Good thing, because my picky 11 year old daughter eats like a bird, and she was very happy with the kids's cheese quesadilla.

Excellent... thank you! My DS12 has a decent appetite for being a scrawny 12yo, but he is always happy with cheese quesadillas.

We had planned it for our last trip, but thought to remove it after carefully considering the menu. We have one adventurous eater - but the choices weren't in her wheelhouse.

As adults-only this May - we WILL be there. It has been on our MUST-do since our first trip in 2009.

Reviews lately have been that the food has been getting better, too.

I was thinking about booking it when we go in May...I have a 12 yr old and a 4 yr old. We want to try something besides a character meal or princesses. We have enough of that booked already.

We ate there on our adults only trip two years ago and really enjoyed our evening. However, we did have to slow things down a bit. We ordered a drink and appetizer but held off on our entrees. We thought the food was very good, I had the chicken la rajas, and DH had the spicy shrimp. We had an awesome appetizer that is no longer on the menu. Then we rode the boat ride, it was really nice. We are taking our college aged kids there in May.
