Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside?

We are thinking about heading to Disney again this May. Last year we stayed at AKL and loved it, but cannot afford it this year I have a 5 and 2 year-old, which resort does everyone like better, Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans- Riverside?

I think your kids would like CBR better. But as an adult I like POR better.

The pool area at CBR is great for kids! As an adult I like the more laid back feeling of the pool at POR.

If you do decide to stay at CBR do your family a favor and book a preferred room. The resort is very large and having a preferred room and being close to the food court and main pool is worth the extra money. We didn't book preferred for our stay, and I really regretted it.

DH and I were at CBR from 12-12thru 12-17. We were in Martinique 23. It was pretty close, but not preferred. I know a lot of people complain about the size, but if you get in the right building, it's not bad. Use the map to help you make a request if you want without paying for preferred. I think it's kind of funny the number of times I read about the LONG walks. We've stayed at POP numerous times, never payed for preferred, been in almost all decades, and don't find the walk bad at all. The only time I felt like we had a really long walk was at the Beach Club last year when we had a corner room--must have been the farthest room possible. That seemed longer to me than any of our other rooms! Maybe it was because the walk was inside compared to an outside walk at the mods or values!

CBR is quite large but I had no problems with walking, or using the internal bus system. There are quiet pools in each 'village' and an awesome main pool that your kids will probably love!

We love POR...have stayed there twice with our kiddos. FWIW, I like the queen beds at POR...CBR still has full size beds which gets kinda tight when sharing with my squirmy kids! . You could also check out POFQ...we love that one too and it's size is great for kids!

We've never stayed at POR, but we loved CBR. We loved everything about the resort, but our DSs especially loved the pool. We had such a great time that we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Check out www.portorleans.org. This is a fantastic website about both POR & POFQ. We love POR with all the activities, quiet pools & large pool on Old Man Island. So much to do there plus the boat to DTD. Didn't like CBR or CSR. We prefer the AB side to the mansions. But that's just us. Food court is great too.

I personally enjoy both resorts, but prefer POR more. Both resorts are pretty well "spread out", so depending on your room location, you could have a little bit of a hike to get to the main building w/ restaurants and gift shops, main pools, etc. For me, this is only really a problem when walking down to get breakfast or refill a mug in the morning. I would be sure to specify "close to the main building" in your room request to hopefully eliminate this issue.

We've stayed at both. I like POR a little more, but the pool at CBR is much better for little ones. There is a separate water play area for children under 48" and the pool is zero entry. I loved that we could all be in one pool together.

POR all the way

Have stayed at both and have to say that while I wanted to like CBR I just didn't. POR has some pluses that others have mentioned. The boat ride to DTD or just between the two resorts is a fun break and guests can use the pools at either of the sister resorts. My daughter actually prefers the pool at French Quarter.

We have stayed at CBR with our kids (ages 1 & 4 and then again at 4 and 7). They loved it. White sandy beaches to play on - the playground on the island - and of course the main pool. We did pay for a preferred room when they were 4 and 7 but it was still a pretty good walk to the main building. They never minded.

We originally booked CBR for our March trip but changed to POR. CBR is going through a refurb this spring (but not even started by March) and we prefer queen beds. So the next trip will see us at CBR,

We have stayed in both. The reason I chose CBR first, was the size of the rooms. They were, at the time, the biggest of the moderates. I was not a fan of the size of the resort... to get to anything was a schlep. POR, I liked the feel of the resort better. The rooms were prettier and I thought the grounds were nicer. I would consider going back to POR but not CBR.
