Do we have any chance at getting a cabana on CC?

I understand that nothing is guaranteed, and that no one can here can promise anything, and I will not come back and yell at anyone for giving me false hope if we don't get a cabana.

I am just wondering what are the chances of a first-timer getting a cabana on Castaway Cay? We are traveling with another family, all of us are first-timers, none of us is staying concierge (though the other family tried, but booked too late so it was all taken). Do we have any hope for getting a cabana when our booking window opens? Do they hold any of them for first timers who do not have early booking opportunities? Does anyone have advice for what to do to increase the possibility of us getting one?

Thanks!

Any thing is possible; the chances are extremely slim. If you truly want one, once your booking window opens (75 days to your cruise)you are going to have to check every day, several times a day, hoping someone cancels. Once aboard, you can continue to check the availability too.

Good luck.

I second what the pp said, check many times everyday. People do drop them. The problem is, you don't know when they will cancel. You can post on the "meet' board for your cruise date and let them know you would like a cabana and to give you a heads up if they are going to cancel.

We were lucky enough to get one every time for the past 3 cruises. Twice they were not available at our booking window and we got one by checking all the time.

Good luck!

We were able to get a cabana on our first cruise as I checked the website every day for a cancellation. I would also check once you board for a cancellation as the cabana next to us got theirs when someone wanted to cancel but didn't want to pay the fee.

I got one last January by checking on the last day to book/cancel excursions at about 5 am. Someone had evidently cancelled their reservation and I snatched it up before anyone else could.

Here's my opinion - it was nice for my mom to have somewhere peaceful to hang while we went and swam or rode bikes. It would be nice if my daughter was still young and required naps, but she doesn't. However, it was a lot of money for the teenager to be gone from it most of the day on her excursion and DH, DD (6) and I were away riding bikes, etc.

We were there over Thanksgiving with just mom, the girls and I and had a good time finding a spot under a palm tree with a couple loungers and the girls doing their excursions and us swimming not far away. Saved a lot of $$$$$. Just my opinion. Have a great cruise!

It depends what ship and how full it is. For our cruise in January, I checked in at around 90 days (because I forgot I could do it at 105) and there were 4 or 5 cabanas still available. But January is not peak time and it's on the Magic.

For a peak season cruise, your best hope is to check multiple times a day.

I was able to snag one for our first cruise in June on the Dream. I checked every day for weeks, several times a day, even at work, and someone canceled one random Wed. night. We were all adults though and it was Cabana 19 on SB.

There is always a chance! A family on one of our cruises got one a week before our cruise thanks to a cancellation.

We went on our 1st cruise in 11/13 and the cabanas were sold out before our PIF date. I checked routinely up until our cruise date with NO luck!! As soon as we boarded, I sent DH to port adventures desk to ask about availability. We were put on a waiting list. The night before CC, we got a call on our wave phone that one was available!! We snatched it right up!! Pixie Dust!!! Good luck!!

We had a similar experience. As soon as we boarded, I want to Guest services and inquired about cabana availability. They had two on the FB and one on SB. We grabbed the latter right away.
