Yes, but it's pretty much 'in character.'

Well, OP, the first experience was totally annoying. I doubt I would have walked out, but the night was on the fast-track to failure.

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like the "do-over" was much better. THAT is what they call service at a "customer recovery" table? Not even being offered the sides? Hmph! I'm glad they tried to comp the meal, but obviously they are over there just trying to get through each service like a cattle call. NOT impressive! And at those prices!

I'm not a huge fan of O'Hana and have no plans to return there in the near future. I can't imagine you do, either.

Didn't read all the replies but this is my take on it...

30 minutes to be seated sucks, and I would have been annoyed too. However, I am well aware that an ADR time is not a reservation time - it guarantees you a seat at the next available table for your party size after the time you check in. With this "policy", you can't get terribly mad for being seated so late after your ADR time since it's not a reservation time. Not to mention, this is a very busy time since Ohana is popular for people trying to catch Wishes. Many people seated and eating at this time try to loiter at their table so they can see Wishes, and it really backs thing up. We ran into this at R&C for Illuminations - 20 mins in line to check in, and another 20 mins to be seated.

As for no one taking your drink order, that's aggravating. But I probably would have asked for a manager or flagged down a server before leaving.

The OP did talk to management and was told it would be another twenty minutes. Ohana is the only restaurant we've been to that I wouldn't go again because of the wait. We had a breakfast ADR a few years back and we were seated over an hour after we arrived. It doesn't sound like they've made strides in that area. When I'm on vacation, I prefer not to stand around waiting to eat. I'd have left, too.

They spoke to management AFTER they up and left. Those of us saying they needed to do something are suggesting that they did so before just leaving. In my opinion, that is what should have been done.

We always allow a little more leeway when going to a buffet or family style restaurant. It is really hard for the restaurant to predict how long people will stay at their table so we don't let it bother us when waiting at 'Ohana or Boma although we usually have pretty good luck at 'Ohana.

As for waiting 10 minutes for drinks, yes it is slow but after a long day at the parks we just relax and chat. IMHO, people who jump to "complain to the manager" lead a much more stressed existence. Comments like "this is unacceptable" indicate a bully personality that demands on getting their own way.

Life is just to darn short to let these kind of things upset you. WDW is a place I want to smile and be friendly.

Flame me if you want because I'll just smile and say "have a nice day".

DH finished his plate at 50's Prime Time. They were so proud they made it a Hidden Mickey!

We loved, loved 'Ohana but after our last trip never again. For most of Disney Dining it has always been a mix of hit or miss but ever since our last trip most of the reviews of 'Ohana have been very negative. This is very sad as this is was a great place with a wonderful atmosphere.

What does "ADR" stand for? I remember when they had PS (Priority Seating) which meant you were first in line for the next available table. But now they call it ADR. Why?

When I go to the Disney site, they label the section "dining reservations." When I search for availability, the offerings state "reserve a table at <time>."

Why do you think ADR is not a reservation time?

I think it's reasonable that you left. Depending on the circumstances, we might have asked to talk to the manager before deciding whether to leave or not. This is one reason I don't like prepaying for my meals by being on the dining plan. If you're on the dining plan and say this is on your last night there, you're kind of stuck with it. If you can't find another TS restaurant, then you'd use a TS just to get a CS meal. I find it funny that people refer to it as OOP when you're not on the dining plan. You still pay for the meals one way or another, on the dining plan or not. (sorry, didn't mean to switch the topic to the DDP)

I probably would have flagged someone down first, but I don't think you were wrong to leave. We waited 40 minutes for our table when we were there in november. If they had then forgotten about us once we finally sat down, I would have flipped. You are paying a lot of money for a nice meal and deserve somewhat decent service. If they can't handle the crowd then they should book fewer tables.

We have REALLY enjoyed O'Hana in the past, but now we eat at Kona. After seeing so many nights with a full lobby of people waiting, it just isn't worth it. It may be the only restaurant I know where you can be seated 45 minutes late, then pay almost $200 for a dinner for four people. And people line up for that privilege. It's fun, colorful, great view for many, the first courses are really good, and the CMs have been friendly, but since Disney seems to way overbook, make you wait in a crowded lobby for an unreasonable amount of time, and charge such a premium, we have our great memories of eating there and love eating at Kona now.

The line was maybe 7groups deep by the time it started moving again. I can't really fault the cast member for this one, she was just being nice and answering questions. According to our table print-out, we checked in at 8:23. We proceeded to wait until about 8:55 to be seated. I step away to use the restroom and tell my brother to ask for a coke if the waiter/waitress comes. I come back and sit down and my brother tells me no one has come by yet. About 10 minutes later a family of 3 is seated next to us to have their drink orders taken a couple of minutes later. So I express interest in leaving and my brother agrees. I tell a cast member I'm on my way out and she gets the manager. She offered me another table and says its probably another 20 minutes out because of the fireworks so I refuse. She gave me her card and told me to contact her if I have any interest in coming back during my trip. Tonight I'll be at Seaword so I'm not sure if I want to make the effort in finding transport from Pop where we're staying and Wednesday we have reservations at BoG. Thursday we leave early morning.

So did I overract? I don't like make cast members feeling bad no matter the issue but last night overall was just an unsatisfactory day.
They need to know and one would hope, want to know. The manager did well. Trust me, not all do.

I don't think it was unreasonable at all! We ate here 12/7 and I wish we would've walked out before enduring it. The meat was great as usual (when it finally arrived) but it only came by once, sides were cold. Arrived 15 min prior to ADR, seated an hour after reservation time. Ignored by our waitress - she literally never said another word to us after taking our drink order. She would slam the items down and be gone before we could even ask for anything. No butter, no drink refills. We had mentioned (when asked about allergies & preferences) that we wouldn't eat the shrimp. A server brought it by anyway and we politely refused. Over 30 min after that, server came back to ask if we needed anything (not our waitress) and we said we never received any meat. He replied "Well I brought you shrimp and you didn't want it!" Very rudely. We were seated over an hour before the meat came out, even though other tables were being served. After bringing our check at the end we waited about 20-25 min before finally flagging down another waitress to pay and leave. We were there over 3 hours. Talked to the manager on the way out, she apologized and gave us her card to call if we ever need a reservation. I don't see that happening. 'Ohana used to be our favorite, now I doubt we'll be back, at least for awhile. I'd typed out the entire horrendous experience, but the app on my phone closed - so this is just the abbreviated version!

Did you miss where the managers solution was wait 20 more minuted. What good was asking for a manager going to do? LOL

Please re read. OP. Talked to managers who appeared useless.

Here's the thing. Disney does not care. Restaurants are packed regardless of food or service. They are not depending on repeat guests like your hometown places. As long as folks pay top dollar for these subpar dining experiences Disney will not change
