How old were you at the time of menopause? I am over 51 and still get my period like clockwork, same day every month. Just wondering......

Well, I will be 50 this month and, while I'm sure I am in full blown PERImenopause, I think I've got a few years to go. My mother was still having regular periods at age 55. She was definitely hormonally a mess and they put her on something and that took care of the periods. She then got off of it and never had another period again.

Most people I know tend to be 53-ish when it happens; however, the internet forums of full of women who went through it in their 40s.

Well...not officially "in menopause" as you have technically not have a period for a year and that has not happened yet.

I am 48 and have weird hormonal issues going on and just had a D&C a couple of weeks ago.

My "clock" is broken so to speak. No rhyme or reason to my business. I do have hot flashes from time to time as well.

I'm counting the days, hoping I can say "I made it" as of February 1, 2014.

My last period was last January so I'm almost at 11 months without it and really hope to make it to that full year this time.

I've gone 6 months, 8 months, then 9 months without it so hopefully "this is it!"

I'm 56 and have had issues for 3-4 years. In the beginning I had hot flashes day and night, and was so ornery/nasty it's a wonder my family stuck by me. Those things have stopped (thankfully!) so now I'm just playing the waiting game for that one year mark.

I will be the big 5-0 in Feb.
I have "Flo" making visits constantly. Twice in November (she doesn't miss a vacation or holiday!)

I had an ultrasound last month and they found a polyp. I will need to have it removed surgically this month. But the Doctor says she can do a procedure called ablation, where they insert a ballon type thingy and fill it with water and make the water very hot and it burns the uterine walls and will hopefully put an end to Flo forever. I told her yes do it please while you are in there.

I am told it doesn't always work but I am going to hope for the best cause I am over this. Started this journey in 6th grade, I have paid my penance.

I turn 52 next Feb. I have been tested this year and the results say that I have not yet entered perimenupause. I was a late bloomer, so this is not unexpected.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm 57 and still going strong. I don't think I'll ever go into menopause. I've been in peri-menopause since I was 43. Oh, what fun...not...

by any chance do you have any teen or pre-teen dd's in the home?

I started early (mid 40's) but thought I was nearing the finish line until dd started her cycle. then mine came back (and where it had been regular, it kept trying to align with her whacked out beginner's cycle). it seems like once her's regulated mine did and started easing off. I've been full blown for a few years now (hot flashes a plenty).

ob/gyn said my symptoms were not unusual. I'm 53.

I'm 49 and have been in perimenapause for about 3 years, I get a visit about every 8 - 10 months (last one was in May this year) with lots of hot flushes in between!! I can;t wait for them to stop completely.

My doctor told me the average age is 52. I guess that means I was average! To the poster that is having the ablation. I had one 16 years ago and while they were lighter, they never went away. BUT, in 16 years, I hope they have new and updated them so they will completely go away for you!

I think I'm finally done even the hot flashes that I had at night seem to be gone.....mid 50's here but I was also an early bloomer don't know if that has much to do with it or not.

What's up with being hot with the sheet on top of you an cold without it? I was like that for yrs, many nights just got back up for the nite because I could not deal with the hot cold hot cold.
