again friends for following along. Let me apologize in advance for the lack of photos in the last update. Because this trip is very last minute for a planner like moi, our plans are still fluid. I have a general idea though of what it'll look like.

Tuesday Dec 17: kids school, Michael at the FD, me work, hopefully no soccer that night for Joshua, Gabby will have to work. After work for me and finishing any laundry, I'll pack up the car in anticipation of seeing the Mouse:

Wednesday Dec 18: Michael is off shift at 8 am and won't be home until about 8:30. I will drop off these beauties at either my in-laws or the kennel (Michael doesn't know yet that he needs to ask his folks to watch them):

My plan is to be out the door, in the car at 9 am.

Of course I'll have plenty of yummy snacks for the drive:

Depending on traffic and weather, the drive to So Cal should take between 10.5 and 11.5 hours. I'm more of a lead foot so with Michael driving I'm planning on 11 or so hours. I have made the drive from Utah to So Cal too many times to count. It's a rather uneventful drive and pretty easy. I'm not a stop-and-smell-the-roses type driver. If you need to pee, tell me and I'll stop. If you want to sight see, I'm not your girl. Michael is even worse. There has to be a consensus to stop and pee. I literally won't drink anything more than a few sips of water until after Provo, about 90 minutes from our house. The drive seems to drag on until about Cedar City which is 4 hours from us. It's a cute little town:

Don't hate me 'cause you ain't me.

After Cedar comes St. George and here's where it's starts to get exciting because we will be almost out of Utah!!!

There's a little bit of jogging into a beautiful canyon in Arizona before arriving in Nevada. Vegas is about 2 hours from St. George and the last cool milestone before arriving in the OC. Viva Las Vegas. No stop for us this time, we've got a Mouse to see.

After Vegas, the drive is fairly depressing. Barstow, Baker, blah! The now defunct Bun Boy in Baker, California.

From here the kids will ask about 1,546 times, *how much longer?*. My kids are pretty much past that but for some reason, they get antsy after Bun Boy. It's about 3 hours from there to my home, the beautiful Orange County:

We'll stop at a local Von's Pavilions before going to my bestie's house in Garden Grove. She lives in a very nice neighborhood on the Garden Grove/Seal Beach border. She's a doll for always hosting us. I'm very blessed to have such an amazing friend.

We'll say hi, have a glass of wine, catch up, and then I'll pack bags for the next 1-2 nights, depending on if our other night at the GCV comes through. I should know in the next 2 days. I may pack a separate two bags with all our stuff for the Disneyland part of this trip.

Thursday Dec 19: DCA! I'm so uber excited to have a full day in each park. I think not hopping is the best decision for this trip.

We'll check into the GCV as soon as we arrive, drop our bags, and head over to DCA. I am so eager to check out Carsland all dressed up in its holiday finest. Same goes for the entire park. I haven't worked out a plan of action yet but I'm starting too.

Friday Dec 20: Disneyland! Main St. Jingle Cruise. IASW Holiday. NBC HMH Holiday. The sights, sounds, and smells, are all incredible. We'll hook up with A&F is it fits into their day. They've got dinner that night so we'll see how the day goes. Love meets.

Saturday Dec 21: Chloe's Birthday! Today will be fairly dependent on if we scored the night before at the GCV or sucked it up and spent the points at the DLH. I'd love for Chloe to wake up on Disney property on her birthday. she'll turn the big 1 5 today. If we spent the night then I'll most likely run to either WWS at the GCV or Earl of Sandwich in DTD, grab breakfast, and bring it back. I have a reservation at Storyteller's in the GCH at 2 pm to celebrate her birthday. She has also mentioned going to Build a Bear and seeing Frozen (if we can hold out that long) while we're in DTD. If we aren't on property (but lets be honest I'll change hotels if I have to to be on property another night) then we'll most likely head to DTD after breakfast, do some shopping, and then enjoy Storyteller's. Michael has to be to the Long Beach airport to fly out by about 4:45 pm that day. We also want to take a peek at A&F's new casa so hopefully that'll work out. Too bad my new roommate Olga won't be there. Our evening plans are also up in the air. That evening is the boat parade in Belmont Shore. It's amazing floating around Nalpes and looking at all of the beautiful homes and seeing the boats and houses all decked out. I've looked into Duffy boat rentals and they aren't cheap. My friend is currently seeing if any of her family is interested in joining us. The more, the merrier. And it's less $$. I'm not a cheapskate by any means but the boats are $100 an hour. That night has a minimum 4 hour rental due to the boat parade. This is very up in the air. If we don't do the parade, I haven't a clue what we'll do but there's never a shortage of fun to be had.

Sunday Dec 22: If we didn't do the boat parade on Saturday night, there's a chance we'll rent the Duffy boat this evening. Still the same venue minus the actual boat show but the homes are all still lit up and beautiful plus the rental is for 2 hours not 4. If we did the boat parade, the day and night are up for grabs. And we may skip the whole boat thing all together.

Monday Dec 23: Up for grabs! On either Sunday or Monday we will visit my father. It always leaves me quite emotionally raw and I generally need a day to recoup so I'm thinking we'll visit Sunday morning. I need to check with his SW to see when mass is. He's a very observant Catholic. I will need to pack tonight as we'll drive home the next day.

Tuesday Dec 24: Drive home. I'm already sad just thinking about it. I know it will have been an incredible, fun filled trip. I generally like to leave before the crack of dawn because the kids usually have school the following day and instead of being a responsible parent and giving them a day to adjust to reality before throwing them back in, we leave every vacation at the last possible second. The following day will be Christmas Day and while I will have stockings to stuff, cough cough, I should be wrapped and ready before we even leave. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. We may stay for breakfast with before heading out, it'll depend on how organized I am and on the weather. Michael works Christmas Eve so we're in no hurry because he won't be home. We generally spend Christmas Eve with my in-laws but they'll come over Christmas Day for dinner and to exchange gifts.

So there's the plan for now and subject to change....but not by much.

Up next: where will we stay the second night? The GCV, DLH, or PPH?

Its a busy trip or no trip this year so I'm choosing busy. It's literally getting shoved in between holidays. Some say I'm crazy for driving all that way for 5 days in So Cal but I cannot resist home, Disney, friends, and the beach.

Sorry for the odd sized shaped photos.

Who are these 'some'? Who cares what they say, they're not going!

I am loving these plans, can't wait to see pictures of all the holiday decorations.

Have you booked M's flight?

Will Chloe like the boat parade? Is it far from DL?

Am I packed you ask? Aside from the items that remain in the suitcase, robe, toiletries, ect, I won't pack until the night before

Ya know those people who just don't get it? I'm driving 7 hours each way to Vegas for soccer for only two full days. I can certainly do 11 hours each way for 2 Disney days and 3 So Cal days.

Yes, I booked Michael's flight home from LGB to SLC on Delta. They had the best time for the best price. JetBlue was a little cheaper but he'd have to leave at like 9:30 am. It was worth an extra $25 to have hime longer.

Chloe loves Christmas lights and boats so I think so. The parade isn;t far at all. My friend basically lives between Disneyland and the beach. It's so easy to navigate because it's my old backyard.

I will have tons of photos to share. Chloe already said she's going to take 1,000 photos in each park. I believe her.

I love that your trips are so close you can leave toiletries in the suitcase. You rock!

Cynthia, I took pics of my points on the member website. I think this means I'm borrowing as I have and had no 2012 points left? Can you tell? Clearly I should pay more attention. Haha! I am reading it as I am dipping into the points I am going to get Dec. 1st of this year.

I'm out of 2013 points and had to cover part of my next WDW trip by borrowing about 100 points or so. I did bank some VWL and VGC points to next year. I've already reserved the GV for my band weekend next year. We're taking friends in March of 2015 and staying at VWL so with a Sept UY so with banking & borrowing, we can make a reservation at 11 mos. for a two bedroom lock off. That still leaves me points to rent or bank to 2015.

Your LFP sounds good. We're definitely up for a ride or two at DL. And I don't know how you plan to make it to LB airport with a 2PM Storytellers. You could probably come see the house that afternoon if Michael wanted to see it. Otherwise the rest of you can see it later.

Holy mackerel! How many points do you have? I'd have to borrow into 2014 to stay in a two bedroom on one Friday night at the GCV. I think Michael needs a little add on pressure. Very cool though that you rented out so many points. I bet those families were stoked!

Do you like your Sept UY? In retrospect I would have not chosen a Dec UY but I didn't know anything about UYs when we purchased. Clearly, I am not any more educated. Aren't you doing the VGF in May too?

I bet the GV is something to see. pixie dust: That's so neat you all stay there.

Cool! Ride(s) it is. What time is your dinner? let me know if you want to meet before or after.

His flight is at 6:30 pm. He doesn't need to be there until about 5:15- he'll be checked in with only a carry on. If we leave Anaheim by 4:30, we'll make it easy. Think that's enough time?

I also made an 11:30 Storyteller's. They took a CC so I'll cancel one for sure. I think it'd be perfect for Chloe's bday.

Breaking news as I type and Gabby reads over my shoulder: Gabby just told me that Chloe would probably like to do the character breakfast with Chip and Dale. I was thinking she was maybe too old and Gabby said: no way. Looks like I'll cancel both and try for breakfast now.

Id love to see the house when you all can. I know you're very busy so let me know as that weekend approaches.

888 . This was our second full year with this many points and I was afraid that we might not be able to use them up. I seem to be doing OK.

I think my Sept UY is perfect We would never travel in the summer months, so banking by April 30 gives plenty of time to make our plans.
We didn't know a thing about UY when we bought but I'm very happy.

Yes we are doing VGF in May-June, that's the trip I had to borrow for. That GV was so much fun! It used up 1/3 of my VGC points.

We would do it before dinner. I think the reservation is around 6PM. I will be in a food coma after the dinner.

If you're moving Storytellers to breakfast, perhaps we could plan an afternoon meet at the house that afternoon before Michael flies out. I have no idea where we will be at on the house by then, but we can confirm as we get closer.

I keep my toiletries in my suitcase too!

I think we are doing the boat parade on the 13th. Our realtors invited us on some boat that leaves from a dock behind McKenna's.

Correct, you CANNOT complain. You're doing quite well on the Disney trips girlfriend.

More nights is always better even if it means moving for a night.
Technically no, you aren't borrowing, it's the Dec UY messing with your head. LOL! You think you are borrowing because you are booking it before the points are in your account but that isn't how it works. The points go with the date of the reservation, not when you book it.

You have 85 points coming 12/1. I don't know how big your contract is but if it is more than 85, you have actually already borrowed. Your trip is after 12/1. That means your trip is in your Dec 13 UY (today is still your Dec 12 UY) You get your points on 12/1 so any trip taken after that, is in that UY. Your trip is taking place in your Dec 13 UY and you are using your Dec 13 points for it, some of that 85. So it's not borrowing, the trip and the points are in the same year. If your trip was today, you'd have to borrow. (Do I sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown yet? LOL! )

While you get your 85 2013 points on 12/1, any trips booked on 12/1 or later would also be eligible to borrow from your full allotment of 2014 (85 points or whatever your full contract is). If you go and click on the contract page (mymembership/vacationpoints/) then scroll down to where you see all the UY's. 2012 will be expanded as that is what we are currently in. You can click on 2013, 2014, etc to see what is there. So, if your trip cost more than 85 points all told, you'd be borrowing from your 2014 points. Which doesn't show on the member front page but are available to use for a trip taken in your 2013 UY, which yours is. On 12/1 that page will show 2013 and 2014 instead of the 12/13 it shows today. It shows current and future as of the day you look at the page...which may or may not match the trip you are booking.

I actually LOVE my Dec UY but it can be really confusing as only one month of it, actually matches what the calendar year says. For 11 months of 2014..we are still in our 2013 UY and it can be confusing. I like it, and picked it on purpose, because the banking date is 7/1. For me that is so much better as I will know summer plans by then and can make the right call.

For a Dec UY, fall trips can be risky as they are after the banking window and you could end up in a holding situation. Thanksgiving trips could be wacky as well as the UY date could fall in the middle of that weekend (it does this year). It is however, perfectly lovely for December trips! I figure we generally travel more, or are more likely to, from Dec-Aug versus fall with the kids so it works best for us.

So did they have the Friday off already? that's cool, E's go all the way through Friday, as do K&T (though it works for our NYE dates, they miss the m/t on the back end instead).

I really hope you don't have to move, major fingers crossed for it coming through, I'm sure I made someones Easter yesterday releasing that studio!

Not hopping makes a TON of sense.

M's flight is at 6? My only concern is the holidays. I know how fast LGB is but I might vote for 4:30 lol. Which yes, is a bit tight if storytellers is running behind at all. I've not been (and need to look into all this, Evan has requested a "big fancy breakfast" for our last morning) so no idea if they run on time or not.

The boat thing sounds SOOOOO cool! I hope you can get a nice full boat, bring the cost down and enjoy. That would be absolutely magical. Sounds like it might be special to go to mass with your dad, is that weird for the kids at all or something they've done before, or is it best to just have a smaller/shorter 1:1. I can only imagine how tough it all is on everyone but yet, a blessing to see him over the holidays. I'm glad the chicken was such a hit, love that place!

We might need to do takeout in April

BLEH on the drive home but the nice thing about your dates is you still get Christmas at home and more vacation/relaxing before the real world intrudes again...even if it is a little rushed.

I'd like in again on your drive, let me know when you've figured out "your" kids this year ok? I imagine you'll put it up

It looks better than mine which says 0 and 0. Don't forget though that you can buy one time use points, ONCE per use year. So you can buy up to 24 (at $15 each) to fill a reservation. You don't even have to be out of points to do it, you can just only do it once time per use year.

But, as mentioned above, it wouldn't be borrowing since the trip is in the 2013 UY. That's good. Doesn't matter a whole ton as you'll be in the 30 day window.

LOL!

Seriously I'm down to just enough left in my 2014 UY...to cover one night for the half. With all the trips I'll have used almost 3 full years of points. Scary! Any 2014 trips (which are really in 2015's calendar year, so confusing!) will be on 2015 points. We will likely be taking 2016 off though so I figure I'll catch up then.

Maybe.

Uh oh, Gabby found out about the secret!?

Birthday breakfast sounds great, well any birthday meal does, but I just love breakfast food.

I used to have to pack my toiletries last minute since I didn't have extras. That stressed me out so now have everything in duplicates. Brush, shaver, soap, shampoo, deodorant, ect. My latest acquisition was a bath robe for the suitcase. I would always have to dry it before packing it the morning of travel. No more. Yes, I had to take it with me, it makes me happy

I think you might need to take M to Starbucks and hint about points

Great looking plans. I'm curious to see how the no park hopping works out. And I'll have to remember the boat rental on Naples. I've previously looked at doing the Gondola rides.
