AGAIN here is some booking advice 1st week of Dec low crowds = short lines
Christmas/NYE week big crowds = long lines
Simple
Dealing with change is bad enough, not knowing exactly what that change will be is worse. That is what has people up in arms.

Skip the Thread then. I think the Thread titles have been very clear as to the contents. In fact, I'll paraphrase everyone who has been saying (And I don't know if you've said it or not, I'm just putting it out there), "Don't like the changes? Don't go then", to "Don't like the Thread? Don't read it then." It IS a Disney Forum, for Disney subjects, ALL subjects, annoying or otherwise. Everyone has the right to post, whether it be hearts and flowers, pixie dust farts, negative nellies or whinging wandas..

Universe of Energy.. yikes, and some new countries to visit would be real nice too. HS could use a few of those motion/video rides on Streets of America.. How about that? How bout a Mickey and gang ride like Star Wars?? But I try to remember, as well, that we go a lot. Being spoiled like that tends to lead to boredom in some people. Those that only come to Disney once or twice in a lifetime, probably see things a whole lot different. But , I digress.. this is off the subject matter of this thread.. (unless of course this thread was started just to bash Disney) I don't think that is so though.
You know, it doesn't even have to be fancy. I mean one of our must-dos is Maelstrom. It's a boat. With trolls. Objectively, there's nothing that great about it, there are many other boat rides at Disney. And somehow, it's still so awesome it has among the longest lines in the park, and people get upset every time it closes down for a few minutes.

Not every ride needs to be Test Track or Everest in order to be good fun, in other words.

They could make more rides out of Soarin's tech, too. I still enjoy flying over orange groves but wow, there are so many other places we could go!

Some are assuming they are taking away the FP-, although I don't see how they can for the day visitors. Sounds like most are just looking for an excuse to complain. The OP obviously has serious personal problems in their life. I'm sorry to hear that as we have had some things pop up that may affect our trip in three weeks as well, but sometimes you have to roll with the punches. If not being assured of getting 8 fast passes a day (which sounds a bit exaggerated but I'm not a commando) is reason enough to not go, then I guess you are making the right decision. But I will say, I have talked to several people already who don't go to Disney because of the lines and like implementation of the new FP+ system. Knowing they don't have to be there at rope drop makes Disney a more inviting destination they are more likely to visit. Folks like those are likely to be replacing those who back out because of it. So if you think you are stickin' it to Disney by canceling, I think Disney will be just fine without you. The resorts, high demand restaurants and high demand attractions are all booked solid. All those surveys Disney does surely addressed this before they spent a billion dollars putting it into use so obviously, a lot of somebody's liked the idea.
We'll be there in three weeks. The vast majority of posters who have already experienced the changes have had a positive response. I expect we will as well. But that's the difference between me and the OP. Everyone is different but I choose to see the glass as half full where as the OP seems to see it half empty.
Truly hope things improve in your life as I hope my own trials pass smoothly. With time, Disney will get it right for the masses. Not everybody will be happy but then again, they never are.

21 Days to the Happiest Place on Earth!!!

Sometimes these mislead people is all. IE .. EMom cancelling her vacation was probably influenced by all the misinformation and confusion presented in these posts. I feel sorry that she cancelled a vacation that may indeed just have been the stress reliever her family needed after a bad year. Glad I wasn't under that decision.

I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor, I was back to pondering my mortality.

No. I am pretty sure Disney has done a fine job of creating misinformation and confusion all by their lonesome. If anything, the posts on this board prove it.

It's a vacation, don't treat it like a military operation!

That is what I don't get either. Cancelling a much looked forward to vacation because of stuff you have read on line. If you believe every review you read on line you will never go out anywhere. You will stay locked up in your home.

Yes, there were a couple of glitches at check in, this trip, but I stayed calm and nice and didn't go all crazy like the guestzilla I saw on Thursday, it took the CM a short amount of time to fix my problem and I happily went on my way. Its all about attitude sometimes. I am so sad to check out today.
Glad you had fun!

While we've enjoyed our trips to WDW, they haven't overall been great enough experiences for us to return regularly, especially when compared with other trips we've taken. We do like the parks and we do return, but not as often as we would otherwise do.

It's very helpful to hear everyone's perspective - I'm glad the board isn't limited to "positive only" reviews/discussions.
It makes me a little sad to think that not everyone got to go when it wasn't scheduled like a busy work day. And 10 years ago and earlier, it wasn't. You could treat it like a normal vacation - schedule your travel, book your room, and then just show up and have fun. Decide when you got out of bed what park you felt like going to. Eat what you wanted when you wanted. Our honeymoon trip in '99 is still probably my favorite, because of the utter freedom we had to just Be At Disney. There was a time you could go to Disney without a watch and still eat steak in Canada on a whim.

About 10 years ago it started changing. Now if you want anything other than counter service and potentially long waits for things, you schedule, plan, figure out which park is open which hours, check the crowd websites, rearrange your schedule, decide 6+ months out where you are going to go on which day, mark your calendar with the 180 day dining reservation dates, search and book tables, schedule some more, realize you have to change something, frantically try to find a new reservation time, etc. Now they want me to carry my cell (which I prefer to leave locked in the safe, because... I'm on vacation!) to keep up with their app too. I was looking at our Christmas trip reservations yesterday, and due to the addition of FP+ on top of ADRs we have as many "appointments" on the calendar for each day at Walt Disney World as I have in the average day at work. This amused me. Heh. (At least I don't have to come to my "meetings" at Disney prepared with PPTs. )

Of course we still go (a bit less often, sadly), and of course we still have fun because DISNEY, but it is now hyper-scheduled fun on super-scripted rails. Keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times! And don't forget your watch.

I think the op was pretty clear that the reason she was cancelling was the uncertainty of the situation. Can anyone really say there is no uncertainty, when major changes have happened to the testing parameters again, and with no word from Disney about it all?

I know. I spent my honeymoon at DW and because my DH's father worked on patents for Disney, we got the VIP treatment. Got golf carted around to attractions, special dinners, special shows, excellent champagne, etc. Disney could do that very easily then because the parks were less crowded, less regimented, more spontaneous. Characters were out walking around, stopping to chat, patting kids on the head, doing a little dance. CM's were HAPPY to be there doing their job and boy, it showed. I do miss that sometimes, but I like where the MB's are going, if they go the way they are supposed to. I like the proposed lands (cars, star wars, avatar). I'm just not happy with the way Disney is presenting all the changes right now.
