It looks awesome! I can't wait, if that's where they're headed with this. And I'm with you, I LOVED Avatar.

And IMO, there are no ridiculous reasons for cancelling an annual pass to a theme park. If someone feels like it no longer meets their needs, then it would be ridiculous NOT to cancel. It's entertainment. When it's no longer entertaining, it's time to cut the strings.

That seems to work for me.

And dennisj, taking large amounts of words to just say "Don't like it? Don't go, then, more for me" is just silly.

Or take your already RFID embedded KTTW or park ticket and wave it in front of one of the new readers that the MB wearers are now using.
Um, no they couldn't.

Remember, FP Legacy is a static system- a number of FP's are allocated per day at the distribution point and return times are incremented by based on rate of pull. There's nothing in place to allow them to dynamically manage anything- whether it's the ability for in-Park guests to make a reservation, time changes to reserved guests based on outages, etc.

FP+, being integrated with MDE, is Disney's main driver for Park Capacity, Yield, and Throughput Management. Starting 60 days out, they now have the ability to know your Park of choice on each given day, what section of the Park you will be in at a given time, can influence your Park selection by making FP+ "suggestions", etc. And, they will be able to also do this from time of reservation through your full stay.

I HIGHLY suggest you read through the great work Bcrook has compiled regarding FP+ and the specific number crunching he and others have compiled. I think it will give you a much better understanding of FP+ and the huge roll it is going to play in all of this.

Also, I'm still curious as to your thoughts on why you think we'll all be amazed at how few will utilize FP+. I think it's a safe bet that, once Disney's Marketing arm begins driving it and every CM and TA is trained and incented to, not only push it, but also begin making those FP+ reservations for guests just like they do for ADR's right now- we'll be amazed at the opposite.

Uh, there's a tried and true method of solving a crowding problem that doesn't involve RFID, massive data gathering, doling out perks to preferred customers, etc.

It's called "building a fifth gate." And they could have done it for about the same cost.

What I said was that by using MDE for advance selection of FPs (you know, like they're doing now with FP+), Disney could have delivered said FPs to the guest at the park with existing kiosks and without incurring the expense of storing them on RFID storage devices and new readers at the attractions. But you knew that, since you truncated the quote.

In fact, I'd argue that the act of physically picking up one's advance selected FP+s at a park kiosk would give Disney greater confidence level in the guests' commitment to use them. And if throughput was the main driver (is it or isnt it?), degrees of intention matter.

I like disagreement. Truncated quotes to support being disagreeable? Not so much.

Another Mr or Mrs Negative.. Wow I did venture in to strange negativity territory. Nobody was out of line here. I was merely saying that AP holders in Orlando who can visit these parks any time they want.. should not be using FP+ as a reason to cancel their AP's. They are free to cancel them, of course, if they are displeased. Just my opinion.. May I add, that that is misleading to others that may be reading these posts. You sir, should place your negativity elsewhere.. Go to Universal or maybe Gatorland.. though I'm sure y'all will find something to complain about there too. So how bout you movin along DUDE!

Exclamation

Please, please let Disney know why you cancelled - lack of FP's, tiering, and this never ending, ever changing test...it is crazy . We are hanging in their, we don't go until April, and it might be the last trip with our son and his best friend, he is heading off to college, and not a huge Disney fan.

I am writing them an email just in general about how mucked up this whole thing is. Anybody have a good email address?

Next time DH and I go, it will be during quieter times so we don't need to worry too much about FP's - unless everyone else decides they need to do that as well...

Really, the only place it is all mucked up is on these Dis Boards. Look at the positive comments too. Most are having no problem with anything. I know we did not have any problems on 2 separate vacations in which we participated in the tests. Reserved 3 rides in 1 park and everyone in our party waited no more than 5 minutes in the FP lanes. Used the paper FP passes for the rest. No problems. Don't worry. Most on this particular thread are a bunch of naysayers who apparently are not interested in Disney trying to solve wait time/ crowding issues. Fear Mongers!!

Sigh... My ignore list is getting so long.

I go to other message boards and there is discussion about this all over. If you don't want to talk about it then don't go into a thread that talks about it. It's not complicated.

Ever changing is right. I get that Disney has to "test", what I don't get is that people who are staying in Pop in TWO days, just had their FP- privileges pulled from them with no notice. You shouldn't have to search websites to find out what's happening on your vacation in TWO days. That's NOT good customer service.
