I'm Noemi, almost 42, married almost 22 years to the love of my life. We have 2 kids, boy age 20 and girl age 16. We are both on this wild roller coaster of healthiness!
So far, I've lost about 23 lbs since September 1st. Before that, I had lost about 25 lbs back in 2011 and had kept it off, but still needed more weight gone. Currently, I still have about 30lbs to lose to be at my "target" weight.
I find that it's not difficult to stay on the healthy side of life, but it's very hard to get back into it if I slip for more than a week or so. Unfortunately for that reason, but fortunately for my sanity from work, we are going on a 7 night cruise in exactly 2 weeks so I know the healthy stuff is out the window for a couple days. My goal for this month is a simple (haha) 5-lb weight loss instead of the 10s I've been doing. I hope to still maintain some sense of health on the ship. We always use stairs and I plan to walk 4-5 miles around deck 4 each day. Thanksgiving doesn't worry me much because I usually eat small portions and can work around the unhealthy foods.
That's me in a nutshell. Oh, and besides walking for exercise, hubby and I ballroom dance. And I make cakes, which is like a recovering alcoholic who tends bar!!! But it's fun, and I don't usually eat the cakes.
Hoping to have a great month with all of you!

Hi all
I'm Jillian, I am a 20 year old college student. I obviously love Disney, what other reason is there to be on the DISboards! I discovered the WISH comunity about a month ago and I am so happy I did!!
My weight gain started in my last year of high school,luckily I never gained more than 10 pounds, but I am trying to lose it. This has been a true rollercoaster for me, it just doesn't seem to want to move! I have always had body issues, who hasn't?! By losing the weight I hope to feel better about myself and hopefully help out my latest hobby, running! I run 3-4 times a week and I love it! I did jump off the health bandwagon at the end of October, and I'm hoping to jump back on it this November and finish strong! Last night didn't go so well for that, it was my Dad's birthday and he loves Hibachi, so that wasn't exactly low calorie but I am back in the game today!
I hope everyone's month goes great, I can;t wait to read about everyone's success!

And another good morning from Minecon! Had a BLAST at WWOHP last night! Sure, it's no Disney, but that dragon coaster is great!

Ate a bit more for breakfast today in anticipation of another loooong day without food, but still made good choices...another egg white omelet with veggies, fruit, a few potatoes and today I added a small serving of oatmeal with a bit of real brown sugar ( a big splurge!) and raisins. I'm really full but i think I will be happy about that later!

Last night's food was all over the board. I had a few healthy snacks in the room (apple and cheese stick) at about 5:30 and then had a plain chicken snack wrap and a few fries from Wendy's on our way to IOA. I bought a cup of fruit while waiting to get into Ollivander's Wand Shop ($3.75....not a bad a bad deal for theme park food) and then shared a bit of Butterbeer with DS. Neither of us really liked it so we didn't even finish it, but it was fun to try.

I was really hungry when we got back to the room close to midnight and I splurged on a light beer and a Thin Addictives biscotti and a small piece of chocolate.

Thank heavens for last night's extra hour of sleep! It came at just the right moment. BB in a bit to do replies! ...............P

QOTD Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3, 2013: Please do a quick intro and share what your plan is to meet your goal for November.
I will be brief since I am on my iPad.....

My name is Pamela and I have a big milestone birthday coming up in about 8 months. I lost nearly 90 pounds between 2008 and 2009 and have had success for the first time in my life, maintaining that weight loss!

I am mom to a DD 18 and college freshman and a DS 15.5 and high school sophmore. Also wife to DH for the past 21.5 years and of course, mom to a kitty named Lucky .

I haven't actually set a goal for November yet, but I guess it is time! My goal for November is to get to 132 pounds again...that gives me about 3 pounds to lose and would get me under my WW maintenance range. I know it doesn't sound like much, but in terms of percentages, for someone of my age and size, it will take some effort. It would be nice to have a bit of a cushion before the holiday eating starts.

I made a commitment to walk one mile every day in October and while i didn't meet that goal 100%, it definitely helped me move on days that I may not have otherwise. I also committed to follow my own creation of a hybrid WW/South Beach eating plan for the month and I actually succeeded at that fairly well. I will continue with both of those commitments to help me reach my November weight loss goal.

Off to check on FB! .............P

my weight goal will be just to maintain - I'm allowing for a weight gain on the cruise - with a few days to get it off and be at my starting number for the month - makes sense to me

step goal will again be 8k per day with the days I attend a class at the Y 5k - it was a bit hard to get the 8k on some of those days & my 45 min class does get me some calories burned- 1 free day per week

Food journaling will be EVERDAY except for vacation days!

off to PM that I'm in and then to journal what I munched today!

WISHing everyone a great Nov with NO EXCUSES - we are here to support one another - let's do it!!!

thank you hostess & coaches - you make this possible

I had a "no excuses November" breakfast! Egg white omelet with onions peppers, and mushrooms, a bit of potato (not deep fried ) and a big serving of fruit, plus coffee with nonfat milk. I did taste the grits ( I usually like them) but only had a taste (about 3 Tb.). I avoided the pastries, belgian waffles, bacon, sausage, , sausage gravy & biscuits. It really wasn't too hard...because I just kept thinking "save your calories for Butterbeer"!

I have a WW cheese stick and a Fiberone 90 calorie snack in my bag for later, but I did forget my collapsible water bottle at home. So I'll have to pay for my first bottle at least. Got my walk in today already with a looooooong trek from the parking lot to the actual registration table! I see plenty of steps ahead!

Hope you all started November off with a bang (and a salad and a walk )! I'll BBL to chat! ...........P
Healthy eating and planning is a great way to start a trip. Well done!

Hello all I'm Jill, 36, married, and mom to DS10 and DS7. I've been around these challenges for a couple years now and I LOVE them. I don't always lose weight (ummmm...October), but it really helps me stay motivated and keeps me focused.

I guess I don't have too much weight to lose (about 10-15 pounds), but it's the last to go and it's proving to be harder than I expected.

My plan is to workout 900 minutes this month (or more since 900 is my goal on the exercise thread) and eat less starchy white carbs. So far, I've been doing good with the eating and not feeling totally as deprived as I had expected.

I always stress about November and December, because (as some of you know) I love Christmas cookies I also love baking Christmas cookies, pies, and anything else that I think looks yummy. So, part of my plan is to try not to go overboard when I am baking. I'm off to a good start today, as I made sugar cookies for DSs and DH and I haven't even had a nibble!

Welcome to everyone.
This is a great reminder. I've been trying to think about this as DSs are eating all their Halloween candy. It's sooooo temping, but sooooo not worth it!

I definitely use food for comfort and for things other than fuel. I relate a lot with what Rose has already written.

I lost 25 pounds in 2009, gradually gained it back, then lost 25 pounds last year, and gained 20 pounds back. Since May this year, I've lost 18 pounds, 10 of those last month. The thing that kicked me in the butt to really get me motivated again was when I was flying to visit my parents for a vacation and to celebrate my birthday with them in September, the seatbelt didn't fit on the plane. It was awful, the first time (and hopefully the last) that I've had to ask for a seatbelt extender. So I started logging all my food, tracking my calories. I'm insulin resistant, so I got serious about it and cut out starchy veggies like potatoes and corn, along with a lot of other sugars. I increased my workouts. I use SparkPeople and really like the tools on there, plus being motivated by other Sparkers. And now I'm very excited to have discovered WISH and all you wonderful WISHers!

My goal this month is to lose 7 pounds, that will put me at a 25-pound loss again for this year. I want to lose it by Thanksgiving, since I'm flying on Thanksgiving morning to Los Angeles to spend a week with my brother. And we're going to Disneyland, my first time! I don't want to worry about any seatbelts not fitting or about me being uncomfortable on any rides. I'll keep logging in all my food, stick to the dietary changes I've made, and keep exercising 5-6 days a week.

Speaking of which, I'd better get outside while it's still nice out and get my power walk through Central Park in today! I'm avoiding the area tomorrow because it will be crazy with the NYC Marathon.
Good luck with your goal. It sounds like you've got a great plan and know what you are doing. I hope you had a great walk

I started my weight loss journey on 7th January 2013, and wanted target by my 50th birthday in 2 weeks time...well it ain't gonna happen, but I'm still pretty proud of the 73lb I have lost so far!!!! 12lb to go. The target date has now been moved to Christmas!

I have discovered in the last 4 months that I enjoy running. Started out walking most of the 5K event which is held in our local park every Saturday morning (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/hull/) but now have a personal best of 33:34 and can get around the course with only 4 x 30 second walk-breaks . I also run an additional 5K at least twice a week on the treadmill at the gym. In 2 weeks I will be running in my first ever 10K for my 50th birthday.

I have no laptop of my own at the moment, so I am bringing my work one home at the weekends so that I can log on and catch up with you all. (Work would not be happy if I logged on over their wifi, but I can do so at home)

My weight loss has kinda stalled recently, since I upped the running in preparation for the 10K. I have decided to take this weekend off healthy eating altogether and get straight back on it on Monday (been to Burger King for lunch today). In the past this has given my weight loss a kick start, so fingers crossed. ToM is due this week too, so I feel like a water filled balloon anyway!

Tomorrow is my mum's 70th birthday and there are 14 of us going out for a 3 course lunch. I have also got her a 'chocolate overload' cake - it's a chocolate marble cake, covered in chocolate buttercream and then coated in Cadbury chocolate fingers, giant chocolate buttons, Rolos and Maltesers. I will definitely be having a piece!!
Your story is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

Ummm...that cake sounds INCREDIBLE! Enjoy your mum's birthday and that delicious sounding cake!

Finished my 32 ounces of water and I am calling it good for the day. Still feel like I am drowning.

And Sugar (the dog) had a good day. She is walking a little more, eating better and getting mad at us when she can't see us.
Dinner sounds amazing! I'm so glad Sugar had a good day.

I'm glad you are having a fun time! Did you decide what you are doing tonight? DTD or AoA? Either way, have a great time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good afternoon. I didn't even make it here yesterday. We went shopping until around 3:00. I came home, put away all the groceries, and did a load of laundry before DS7 went to a friend's house. While he was at his friend's (and his friend's mom took them to a movie), DS10 and I went to my sister's to hang out. We got home after 8:00 and I just wanted to sit and do nothing. So, I am really behind on my working out for Nov already! When DH wakes up, I will do the elliptical for a bit while I watch football.
Since my gym changed and pretty much closed in June, I haven't really been doing any strength training. We have a Planet Fitness and I think it's around $10/month for the cheap plan and $20 for a plan with more offers (use of tanning beds, which I'd never use, hydrotherapy massage beds, and some other rooms that I do not know if I'd use). I think I need to join and get going. Even though I do a good job working out, I still feel flabby. I am not as toned as I used to be. I am not motivated to do strength training dvds at home, either. I love the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, but it's hard on my knee and I can find any excuse not to do it
I guess it's about that time to grade some papers I hope everyone has a great day and I'll check in the next time I have a spare minute.
Jill
This is so true! Once I am in a groove, I do great. I just can't seem to find my groove. I lost it somewhere along the way.
Everytime I bring up WWOHP Mike and Tom look at me like I'm insane. Honestly, we could go to WDW and not even go in the parks (except world showcase) and I think they would be happy. Glad you are having fun!
I know I have said this many times, but setting my goal at the beginning of the year for a mile a day and sticking with it has truly been the highlight of my year. It is so silly and simple, but it has kept me grounded when I thought I was going crazy. Lifted me up when I felt bad about myself. It was such a simple thing, but I really feel great about it!
Those last 10-15 are always the hardest I think! For awhile I think there was a whole thread for people who had 10 to lose.
Omg. Looks so good!
We had a good day. Went to the Y this morning and ran 5.25 on the tm and did another mile on the elliptical. Came home, talked to DS for a bit and did some cleaning up. Then we went to the park and hiked another 5 miles. Might have over done it a bit because my achilles tendons are talking to me. I need to remind myself that I have to go 13 miles on Saturday!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I feel a bit back on track. I even found a recipe for ONE cookie. One of my biggest issues with being g-f is that it is hard to just go out and buy a treat without buying a whole box of something. Then I eat the whole box. In one sitting. I just have not overcome some of those bingeing issues. Anyhow, if I can make one cookie it will be a treat and then that is it! I actually have to take the time to make it so I have to make an effort, but it's not a whole box of cookies in my apartment taunting me.
Dinner tonight is roasted brussel sprouts with pomegranate seeds. Yum!
Have a good night!
Had a successful day. Walked 11.07 miles total today with my 16-yr old daughter. We went for ice cream. It was great but now I'm sore. I have a goal each month to beat my last month's walking miles. September was 60. October, 66. This month's goal is 70 and I'm already 1/7 of the way there!!! I plan to walk an hour a day while on the cruise so that should add about 28 more miles.
HI! I am Katie. I am a wife and mom to DD13 and DD10. I have struggled with weight since college which was a long time ago. I have tried every diet out their and have yo-yo'd weight wise for years losing 20 lbs here and 30 lbs there and always gaining them back and then some. Last year I decided to make some changes and started walking/running. I did a 5k every month that year and saw some weight lose, but not what I hoped for. I continued to run and did my first half marathon in March of 2013. My weight loss was still kinda hit or miss, so I really started to look at what I was putting in my mouth everyday. I thought I was eating "healthy", but my portions were way off, and I was under the mindset I am running so I can eat a lot. I am burning it off right? Since I started to track my food intake and log my exercise the weight has really started to drop off at a much steadier pace and I could not be happier! I did my first Full marathon on 10/26/2013 and was so very excited and proud of myself. I am currently at a 58lbs weight lose with about 30 more to go!
I hope to continue my weight loss thru November with staying on top of my portions, and logging everything that goes into my mouth! . I have another half marathon on Thanksgiving day, so my training will help burn a few extra holiday calories.
I am so glad I found these board the love and support you all share is wonderful! Hope everyone has a successful November and thanks for letting me share it with you guys!
Ok everyone! We are all updated and ready to lose! Please PM me if you do not see your name!
To catch up a bit, I am Amanda and have been on (and off and on) these boards for the past year. Seem to keep gaining and losing the same pounds too... Anyway. I am 32, engaged to my love (and currently planning my March 2014 wedding), and have 2 beautiful kids. I am a social woker working child welfare for the state. Demanding and stressful but I love it. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember, working hard to reverse that. I try to get on here and read a lot, but don't usually have a lot of time to post, but know that I am rooting for all of us!
Since we didn't have a coach for these first few days, I will post a QOTD for tomorrow! (we still have coaching slots open people )
QOTD Mon November 4
I am sure we all those "go to" foods when we are watching what we eat, healthy things have incorporated into our everday diet. What are some of yours?
I love Kroger's carbmaster yogurt (lots of protein and only a few carbs, plus yummy flavors like pumpkin pie), Premier Protein shakes (also lots of protein and few carbs, also lower calorie than some protein drinks I have seen), almonds bagged in 1oz servings, light string cheese, ready-to-use salad mix, rotesserie chicken (without the skin), and Sonoma carb cutting totillasd from Trader Joes (LOVE these, seriously! Only 60 calories and loads of fiber which is why they are lower carb!).
Breakfast - gluten-free toast with almond butter
Lunch - Salad with grilled chicken or salmon and lots of veggies
Dinner - Trader Joe's frozen brown rice, and frozen stir-fry veggies make fixing a stir-fry dish very easy - just add in some protein.
Snack - organic light string cheese with an apple or pear
Also, I eat A LOT of cucumbers and grape tomatoes!
If it is "5 o'clock somewhere," does that mean it can be 5 o'clock anywhere and all the time?
Thanks! We are on the Wonder leaving 11/16 out of Galveston. The jogging track is on deck 4 on all of the ships on DCL. Just different lengths between the classic and new ones. I figure I have to walk there because I won't have excuses not to like I do here sometimes. ;-)
