The only thing the might could have done was to have it where the system could red flag if someone had a double reservation within and hour or two of another but then people would make up names so that wouldn't work. Unless they ID'ed you, but if you have a big party just use everyone in your parties name. So no...that doesn't work.
I agree too.... I absolutely LOVE this new rule that you will be charged for a no show!!!!!

Im just happy and fortunate to be there every time we visit. You have to be able to adapt to the ongoing changes the best you can.

We won't be going back after this trip.
This is what I was talking about in my post, you haven't even gone yet and you've already decided your not going to have fun and won't be going back.

What if your kids have the time of their life? What if you end up having a blast?

It sounds like you are not expecting to have fun and if that's your mindset there's a high chance you won't have fun. I just think you are cheating yourself and your kids out of a great vacation before it even happens.

I have to agree with you OP. Unless this vacation is much better than expected, I can't see wanting to go back every year. I'm past the point in my life when I want to either plan my day around rides chosen months in advance, or not ride the popular rides without waiting for an hour.

As far as the ADR cancellation policy, this will hurt many people who never made double reservations in the past. When my son was young, there were several times that he was just too tired and cranky to keep our ADRs. Who knows, maybe this change will make it easier for families to eat without having to make reservations 180 days in advance?

I can fly to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, stay at a gorgeous resort on the beach, eat at fantastic restaurants and drink top shelf liquor and still pay less than this 4 night trip to WDW staying at Pop with the QS dining plan. I remember the days when Disney was much more affordable.

I love Disney, plan to move to Orlando in a few years and work there, but I'm not sure I will vacation much there anymore.

And please remember that everyone has a right to their opinions, even on the Dis. Comments on how there will be one less person at WDW when you are there on vacation remind me of something that the children I work with would say. If you don't want to read negative comments on WDW, don't read the threads!

You know, I saw purple magic bands on Google images. But why do they not offers this. It must be a conspiracy. Maybe the purple magic bands are for very special guests and give unlimited fast passes

I am visiting in Dec. as an offsite visitor. I hope all goes well. I still have one more DGKid to take to the World. Then I may reassess how often I visit WDW. I know I will still go but probably not as often. I have a lot to see on my bucket list. I have been a loyal parks visitor since 1994 (and 1957 for DL). I just think there are a lot more changes this year. I am looking forward to trying FP+ but it won't be in Dec. since I am staying offsite. I actually agree with the changes to ADR's. I have been shut out of popular spots (which may have been because of double bookings).

I don't get the whole, I've not experienced it myself, but I know I won't like it mentality.

We were there in October and loved magic bands and fast pass plus.

Give it a chance and try it once before you say you don't like it.

I will still go...not as often. I had already planned my October 2014 trip to Orlando (mostly for the Mine Train and Harry Potter 2.0). I may or may not go again. I enjoyed my trip to California last year and may do parks there again but I don't see a lot of reasons to go to Orlando for quite some time.

If I had not already planned on this trip, I would have gone somewhere else. I am not liking all the planning that goes into it nor the stress involved waiting to see what these new programs do to my tried and true strategies.

Longer lines and bigger crowds in the "off season" do not appeal to me. Obsessive planning, only to have said plans totally messed up by inferior IT does not appeal to me. I'm still hoping that a year is enough time to clean up the messes.
Trip Over on 11/1....no new trip planned but check out my trip report here:

If the parks had been full that 3rd hour of night time EMH, they wouldn't have discontinued it. Continuing to leave a park open for a few stragglers wouldn't have been a smart thing to do financially. Why leave the park open when it is costing more money to run it than you are making?

As far as the monorail goes, what they really need to do is take it out of service totally for a few months, or however long it would take to get it up and running as it should. That extra hour they are supposedly using for maintenance isn't helping at all. I have no plans to ride it my next trip and will use the boats instead. It is just not reliable and I have no desire to be stuck for 2 hours.

Quite a few changes I don't like. Some I'm not crazy about that I know is a comfort zone/resist-the-change thing and will adapt to. Others have positive potential.

Right now it does feel like a PITA but I have no intention on canceling our trip. We will try it out first, see what we can do to make it work for us and what we are willing to change about the way we tackle our vacation both before and aftr arrival and take it from there.
