My Blog on the Avatar Plans

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I'd love to get your thoughts on this post. I do a movie blog that's purely a passion project (not for any financial gain). I'll periodically do a post that involves my Disney hobby.

Here's my current thoughts on the Avatar Land:

I'd love to get your reaction on it!

I'm kind of mixed on it. On one hand I think AK is ready for an update and/or big change, on the other hand I'm not quite sure Avatar is the answer. I still think it's an odd choice but I will be anxious to see what it ends up looking like.

I liked it, but it brings up the q of why it'll take so long to be completed?? I'm already becoming antsy.

This is a big question with it. I've heard a variety of theories about why Disney takes so long to finish projects. Some relate to using so many outside vendors; others talk about all the layers of approvals within the organization. Regardless, it seems crazy to note how long things seem to take these days. 2017 is an estimate; it might even be later if there are delays.

Exactly. I think it is because Disney is a perfectionist. N that's not always a bad thing haha.

I hated this idea when I first heard it and two years later I still hate it.

I'm not a fan of the movie, but I will be darned to complain about Disney adding new rides/attractions. I could probably think of 10 other better ideas, but hey they are adding to the park. They keep building all these new DVC resorts & value resorts and not adding into the parks(except a scaled down version of Fantasyland expansion). I think it's taking so long on this construction to start is because they are scaling this down, also.

I have been a Science Fiction reader and fan almost all of my life.

I did see Avatar once and really it is not good science fiction. There are supposed to be second and third films coming out, but how will they be.

Yes, it come out and was a record-setting movie. However, where is the merchandising? A good movie, or a series of good movies has a buzz going on all of the time. Where is this buzz? I can think of much better things to use for a Park expansion.
