We are visiting WDW in late January/early February 2015. We currently have CBR reserved, however, if I can snag a good deal on the Polynesian, I might be able to convince DH to make the switch.

Are there any good deals that have been released for the Poly currently that are more than normal because of the construction? For example, if the Fall discount is normally 35%, are they offering 40% off for the Poly?

Thanks!!

We did miss not being able to go right from our room to the beach, but instead we had a perfect view of the Castle and Wishes from the 3rd floor!
We might have been neighbors, lol. We spent a week in third floor TPV then moved to the Tonga building (suite!). We came home July 8th. Although the suite was amazing, and still had the TPV castle/fireworks view, we missed the big sky and lake view from Hawaii. We always stay 3rd floor, the view is really fantastic.

We were in room 3514. Did you notice on July 5 the beautiful fireworks show around 10:00ish? We thought maybe it was at HS for the Frozen things they were starting that day/night, but wasn't sure if it was the right direction and plus it seemed so close. It was a bonus to see Wishes and then later on see another show so clearly (off to the right).

A few comments:
We didn't mind the walls up in the GCH. We thought they did a good job at trying to "decorate" the walls:

This was our view - 3514

We rented Premium cabana on July 3:

We were in 3517 for the first week, but by July 5th we had moved into the suite in the Tonga building, and you can't see too far to the right from there due to the volcano. (Honestly, that's the only downside to the suites, the Tonga building is in the marina area so while you still have a great view of the castle and Wishes, you don't have the big wide view of the whole lake area.)

I think the fireworks you saw would have been at sea world or universal. Hollywood Studios would be more behind you. I notice every night about the same time as wishes you see a flash of lower fireworks off to the right, maybe whatever park that is had bigger fireworks on July 5th(?)

I love the premium cabana, we didn't do it this trip, and I'm sad to think it won't be the same after they remodel that area. It's perfect the way it is, lol.

Was curious, does the club level lounge have kona coffee? And also, do they have either of the Kona Brewing company beers (Longboard, or Fire Rock Pale Ale) I'm sure I've had those beers at Kona Café. Just wondered if any of those were offerings at the CL Lounge? No worries, just curious.

I've always seen Longboard. I'm not sure about Fire Rock.

Edit: I thought I had pictures of the beer at Poly, but unfortunately the pictures are of the beer at BC -- we did split stay between BC CL and Poly CL. Sorry!

No worries, the idea that anything from the Kona Brewing company would be in the CL lounge does give me more reason to want to stay there.

Anyone know if the coffee in the CL lounge is Kona coffee, or Joffreys?

No Kona coffee in CL--it was always Nescrape when that contract was valid. I would guess it has gone to Joffreys, but only someone who has been there recently would know. I haven't seen any pictures lately of the coffee dispenser.

The coffee is definitely nothing to write home about--nothing worth noticing like Kona. I usually get a double espresso and then fill the cup the rest of the way with 'regular' coffee.

The beers I remember (just got back two weeks ago) were Yuengling, Bud Light, Longboard, and Heineken. I have a picture, but it's from Tonga where the beer is in a fridge, so one other brand might be hiding in the photo (on the far left side maybe). I will have to ask dh if he remembers another beer, but I think that's it.
(disclaimer, you will not find all of the stuff in the fridge in the Hawaii building, but the beers are the same)

The chance of getting a discount for late January/early February is pretty good, but unfortunately, Disney doesn't usually give deeper discounts due to construction. With that said, I hope a good discount comes out for your dates and you are able to switch as the Poly is a great resort .

It's nice to see a few of you reporting you had a good time staying in Hawaii! We leave next Sunday and spend most of our time there. The pool would have been nice but we'll prob spend as much time in the GF lobby as the GCH anyway. Here's to hoping it's a good trip!

Hello!!! We are planning a trip in August 2015. I have never been to Poly only seen pictures. It reminds me of Aulani. We were there 2 years ago. It is my hope to stay there next summer. Any opinions on room categories? I know nothing and would love to know more about them. Including buildings. Do you request buildings or are different room categories in different buildings? Thanks for the help :-)
