How soon do you put in room requests?

How close to check-in do you put in room requests?

If you booked through Disney do you contact the hotel directly or through another way?

If you book through Orbitz(or the like) can you still put in room requests? Do you do that through Disney or through Orbitz/whom you booked with?

Generally include requests at the same time reservation is made, don't see any point in waiting.

Reservations made directly with WDW, you call the reservations number - other the hotel - with requests.

Reservations made through Orbitz (or any other Travel Agency - you contact that outside company with any requests. The Travel Agency owns your reservation, so the vendor can work only through them.
