Early cruise date booking for gold/platinum?

Do I understand this correctly? If I am gold/platinum, DCL gives us two days of booking before the dates are available to the general public, is that right?

If that is correct, can a reservation be made online at DCL or do you HAVE to use a travel agent or dial into DCl directly? If you have to dial in, what time do they start making reservations? If you can do it online, can you start at midnight?

Only for new Itineraries

This is what is on the castaway club benefits:

Be among the first to book our newest itineraries and ships before the general public.

On new places that the ships go, you will get early booking advantage. But you would not get the advantage when 2015 itineraries are released as they would not change if they are doing the same things the did this year.

Actually getting booked will take all ways. Typically travel agents will be calling along with all the customers that want to book so long hold times can be expected. You could also try to book online, but also Disney may experience technical difficulties.

I would think that the more ways to get a room that is tried, the better off you are. Then you can decide which ones you need to cancel.

When the Hawaiian itinerary was released for the first time, there was such a stampede to book that we were happy to have our travel agent take care of it for us. That way we didn't have to spend hours on hold, trying to get through.

If/when DCL releases new itineraries for 2015 the information will most likely be "leaked" here a day or two ahead of time. If there's something we really want to do, we'll give our TA a "heads up" and she can fight our battles for us. She gets a commission, but also gives us a $200 onboard credit. Some people think using a travel agent means giving up control, but control of what? We still make our own shore excursion/Palo/Remy reservations. Our TA is willing to arrange our flights and pre/post cruise hotels but we usually do that ourselves, unless it's international hotels and she's been there/done that, and can offer suggestions.

Actually, the 2014 dates did have the early release for gold & platinum cruisers this year, except for the Wonder's post October cruises that were switched with the Magic's. This is completely arbitrary and up to DCL, even if the itineraries are the same. When this happens there is nothing available online for the new dates, so you have to call or have your TA call. The advantage is only a day. It was two days the first time DCL introduced the tiered system, but has only been a day the past couple years.

People use to tell their TA what they wanted to book and call themselves. This resulted in double bookings, which drove prices up faster. The price doesn't go down the next day after people cancel their extra rooms.
