Be Our Guest Special dietary requests?

Just a question to see what everyone else's experiences have been.....
Last time we visited Be our guest we have two people in our party who had special dietary requests as to how the meals were prepared. Never been a problem at any other WDW restaurant (i think it was a somewhat simple request if i remember correctly, like steaming veggies instead of cooking them in oil... something along those lines) Anyway... The server seemed to be slightly anoid by the request and couldnt accomodate one of the requests. At the other places we went the chef's usually came out and offered up things no even on the menu. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I figured maybe it was because the restaurant was so new. Or maybe it was just our server. Any thoughts or expereiences?

I have one thought and it's just that...,a thought. BOG has a very small kitchen and that may result in their lack of being able to accommodate picky eaters and certain requests due to allergies.

Be Our Guest is kind of a new thing for Disney, they seem to be working on turning tables more efficiently and getting food out more efficiently and that doesn't lend itself to a lot of changes to the dishes, at least not to accommodate preferences, or preparing off-menu items. I know at lunch they will not prepare any off-menu items at all.

They should have had someone come out to discuss accommodating allergies though (were there allergies, or did someone just prefer a different method of cooking). and I can't be sure that they would be able to accommodate a different way of cooking vegetables but they should be able to offer a substitution.

1) BoG is different than other eateries.
2) Chefs will come out for allergies, not off-menu requests.
3) Of course, for the QS lunch, it won't happen, just like other QS eateries.
4) For TS dinner, it is not meant to be a full-service TS.
5) As mentioned above, it is design for "table turnover".
6) You friends must either eat the veggies cooked or eat at other TS eateries.

NOTE: In many TS eateries, they will not prepare items in a different manner.
Yes, some will, but most will not. Hopefully your friends will find TS eateries
where they get veggies cooked as they wish. Besides, I do not think that
steam versus cooking is a true dietary issue.
Certainly not like allergies.

I've gotta say i totally disagree with that way of thinking. I do realize that there are many different places to eat around WDW and you can always simply go somewhere else. But its not always that easy when trying to accomodate a large group of people and what everyone wants to do. Beleive it or not it very well CAN be a dietary issue just in what ingredients are used to cook the food. Ive never had an issue with any disney restuarant WDW or DL. I was just curious as to everyone else's experiences. But just had to reply that i TOTALLY disagree with that attitude that it was too much to ask to have something prepared in a different way. again, maybe they are unable to at this particular place and thats fine. But to think its unheard of.....

We had lunch there in January, with no problem. We are on SCD for crohnes disease. I carry little cards with me to show the waitstaff and chef. It has ideas on what we can and cannot eat. There was a bit of a wait once we got up to the ordering stand, and someone eventually came out and walked us through what was available. We made our selections and were seated. Our meal was fine, with no complaints. Mind you, that was some time ago. Perhaps things have changed. SCD is quite restrictive but there were no glitches at all.
