Anyone know if you are allowed to take a fishing pole if you rent a boat at any of the properties? I know there are fishing excursions you can book but my husband is a DIY fisherman and would rather just have him and his dad on a boat doing their thing!

I believe that all fishing at Disney World has to be done with a guide. I could be wrong and if so, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I think you can, call (407) WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529) and they will be able to tell you. You should talk your husband into doing the bass fishing trip, I've done it twice with my dad, Bil and 2 nephews and we've had a great time each trip. The guide knows where the fish are and on both trips everyone caught at least 5 bass in the 2 hours(its a little bit longer but the trips are supposed to be 2 hours) the last trip we caught 49 bass between the 5 of us with a few big ones. We do the early trip on Crescent Lake(Epcot resort area) and they take you into the world showcase to fish before it opens. We already plan to go again on our next trip.

The guides are great and they take care of everything but will leave you alone and take you to the hot fishing spots if that's what you want. They fish before they take you out so they know where the fish are. Its the best guided fishing trip I've been on.
