Question Insurance & Reimbursement?

Has anyone had one or more members of your traveling party cancel at the last minute? If you took the travel insurance with your package are you reimbursed? Several problems are setting up with my family and we are set to leave in 9 days. All travel plans were paid by me and I am now afraid some of them might fall apart?

You need to read the particular policy that you took out, which details what can and cannot be reimbursed for. Policies can be different.

You did not say what your policy states or what the reason is so it is really hard to give you a definitive answer.

I have also been in the situation where I paid for everyone and did not get reimbursed by someone. Never again.

You definitely do forfeit the cost of the insurance.

We cancelled airfare once and were reimbursed for the $50 cancellation fee per person by travel insurance (we still went but drove). Are you cancelling a room? dining? tickets? some of those you might be able to cancel without paying a fee. Are you staying on property?

I paid for the WDW travel insurance when I booked our trip back in Sept of last year. I booked Airlines on my own and I know I'll lose $100.00 per seat for that. I am still hoping this will all work out. This trip was a gift to two cousins who have never visted WDW. I take my daughter and her to girls to WDW each year and have never had this case scenario. Thank you for your help.

Which airline? You may be losing more than $100 if it was non-refundable. Most airlines only allow credits to be used by the same person as on the ticket and by a certain date.

As far as the insurance, it depends on the reason. Most policies do not pay for "changed their mind". It has to be for a reason defined in the policy - illness, death, job loss, etc.
