Which decks?

Newbie cruiser here. Are decks 1 and 2 balcanies any good to book? I'm assuming the higher up you go in decks, the better views. But, maybe I'm mistaken. Advice much appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge decks 1 & 2 don't feature verandahs.
FYI, decks 1&2 are the bottom passenger decks

Verandas start at deck 5. We have been on this deck on the classic and dream class ships and we enjoy this location. Others like the higher decks.

All our DCL cruises have been on deck 2. Just love the location, and the portholes are great.

Another vote for Deck 2 - Large Porthole rooms

Classic and New Ships!

You are "Close to the Action" on deck 2

Inside a lock in the Panama Canal

Outside of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco

Pilot Boat leaving us in SF.

Magic

Anyone had 9D vs 9C (small portholes vs one large porthole?)

Does anyone think its worth $20 more pp for 9C? 9D is Deck 1, $20 more pp is 9C on Deck 2.

Looking for my friends.

I'd go with a one big porthole honestly...

I'm in the minority I think - had a 9C once (it was an 11C GTY that we were "pixie dust" upgraded too). We hated deck 2. We were in 2628. It. Was. NOISY. Never again. It was 5 nights on the Magic. We were under a galley and there was a loading area above us. We would've much rather had an inside room on a higher deck or deck 1, as it seemed super quiet down there. Plus, I'd have felt at home with the medical center peeps lol.

That being said, nothing but Verandahs from now on, but a lot of people love deck 2. Maybe a 9B would've been better, but no more letting DCL choose our room unless we are desperate (book VGT).

Well - for us, we are cruising in an 11A this time - but on deck 7... I do agree about this in this case. I didn't realize the galley was right above deck 2 and in that case, I wouldn't pick it either.

I want only staterooms above and below...

We were upgraded to a Cat 11 on deck 7 on our first cruise (honeymoon on the Wonder in June 2005) back when they had Cat 12 (which is what we booked). Loved the location - it was aft and we were super close to that 'secret' aft deck. I would've take that any day over that 9C, even with an extra person.

After that 3-night, it was 5 years before we cruised again. Now look at us lol.......

We found basically one of the last 11Bs left on our cruise (presently) and got a hold. My fave CVP found them one deck below us deck 6 aft. Just have swap out one of the cruisers and it will be good to go. And then, my mermaid pod will be growing : from two mermaids to four mermaids!

I prefer to be a little higher up. Deck 8 has been my favorite so far. I don't care for deck 10 on Dream class. The overhang of deck 11 is kind of an obstruction. Deck 9 partially deals with that too. Deck 8 is great as I'm sure deck 7 or even 6 would be good too. We prefer midship or aft strictly due to our nightly routine. Seems like most our time at night is the adult section, Oceaneers and of course the drink station up on 11.

We were on deck 2 with one port hole once. No complaints. Just prefer the veranda.
