You have to carry it on. It's not allowed in your checked luggage.

This is a very good question. Last cruise we brought nothing. This cruise we are bringing wine. We would like to bring it in our six pack wine tote. Is that allowed?

As long as you carry it onboard, it's fine. You can't place beverages in checked bags.

We carried on a bottle of pineapple orange juice, vodka, a flavored liquor used for mixing that I can't recall the name of right now and a 12 pack of beer......for a 3 night cruise. We brought on way too much because we ended up buying quite a bit from DCL but we did enjoy some drinks on our verandah. We brought our opened bottles of liquor back with us and left the beer for our stateroom hostess.

Any beverages you bring onboard must be carried on.

Although, I'll point out it's not necessary to bring water onboard. The water onboard the ships (all water - whether from the drink station, preparing food, from your shower, making ice, from the tap in your room) is processed the same as bottled water (reverse osmosis and filtered).

First time, had no clue so came empty handed. Second cruise flew in so no stops but one cruise I met on the boards did pick me up a bottle of rum and a case of water bottles.
This future cruise we fly in early to visit family so we will stock up for sure this time. Really looking forward to relaxing and sitting on our balcony.

Another option for those who cannot stop at the Liquor store before boarding. Last year we flew into Houston late the night before our 14 night EBTA, so no opportunity for a liquor store stop. I brought my liquor from home using Wine Diaper padded bottle bags on the plane in my checked luggage. Took it out of the luggage after we checked into the IAH Marriott and put it in my carry on bag to be taken aboard the ship in Galveston the next day. The bags cannot fit odd shaped bottles though, I took a bottle of Skinny Girl Mojitos, Skinny Girl Margaritas and a container of Bob Chinns Mai Tais, they all fit. My bottle of Bailey's would not fit so I brought the Bailey Minis instead.

These bags are great, I reused the bags on our return from Europe to carry some of the regional liquor I bought on our Batlic sailing.
