Switching a booking to Costco...how does it work?

I know I have read things on the boards about switching a reservation. Here is my question:
We have a 4a booked on a 7day western for next Oct. I booked this through Disney. We are now considering concierge. When I looked, Costco is about $300 cheaper than Disney for the upgrade...plus almost $600 in Costco gift cards. What would be the best way to make the change? I have a Disney Visa, so I am wondering if I will lose the on board credit? I also don't want to lose out on the 6mo/no interest offered with the card. Can I do this without losing all of the benefits I would gain by going through Costco?

It shouldn't be cheaper through Costco, all Disney prices through outside agents should be the same.

If you've booked in the last 30 days, you can transfer the booking to Costco. If it's been longer than that you probably have to cancel and rebook. Not sure if they make exceptions to the transfer rules.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples and not oranges. Price should be the same whether you book through DCL directly, Costco or any other TA.

You can't transfer a reservation more than 30 days after it was first made. That includes changing dates or any other changes - it goes back to the first date you made the ressie. So if you made this a while ago, it might be too late to transfer.

You can retain the Disney Visa even if moved to a TA. All payments must be made on the Disney Visa, though.

Our local Costco doesn't accept Visa except as a debit card. Maybe your's is different?

Enjoy your cruise!

Costco stores don't accept Visa. Costco Travel does.

Yes. You can make payments at costcotravel.com and pay using your Disney Visa.

Price difference

I don't think Costco Travel adds the port charges until the very end of the booking process, so that may account for the difference in price.

If you did book less than 30 days ago and want to go ahead with the transfer, you will need to fill out this form:

I just booked on Costco this weekend. The other poster is correct, they don't add taxes until the end. So the price you see at first is before taxes.

Since you already have the reservation for that date, if you want to upgrade you will go with the pricing that you had when you made your reservation originally. If you are getting a quote through Costco now, that might mean you are going to pay more than you need to if the price has increased since then. You should also be looking at your reservation online and clicking to modify your reservation with the stateroom category to find out what the actual price would be to upgrade.

When you transfer a reservation to Costco, do you get the full amount of the cash card? We've booked a 2015 cruise directly with DCL, because we had vouchers, but now want to transfer to Costco or DU (it's been less than 30 days). Thanks for your help!

You may want to confirm this with Costco, I think they changed things if you put in the deposit with another travel agency (DCL). You fax in a booking transfer form to DCL then Costco can get the reservation.

Ive done this many times, but I made the reservations with DCL, then paid the deposit (and balance) with Costco.
