Oh I know this one. I've thrown in the towel for this. It will be my one treat this October. Pumpkin Pancakes every Friday at IHOP with my BFF at lunchtime! There is no resisting them - but with only whipped cream they aren't TOO bad. They just aren't quality calories! But I figure if I give myself this treat once a week it will keep me good the rest of the week. Let's hope!

Love pumpkin spice everything too!!! At least it's not as bad as eating heavy cream-filled things, right? If you make your own, you can control the amount of sugar that goes in! I try to stick to the pumpkin spice candles. Almost as good as tasting it is smelling it. Almost. ;-)

to all our new and returning participants! I'm so happy to see each and every one of you.

I've enjoyed reading all the introductions. I'm sorry that I can't do the usual replies to each of you but thanks to you filling up my PM box yesterday and today with all of your info and goals I am going to call myself caught up from here. We are going to have a great month!

A friendly reminder that even if you chime in on the thread that I am updating the list from the PM's to be sure I have all your information.

We're off to a great start!

Bev! I do remember you from previous challenges and I have to commend all three of you ladies but I do think we've ever had three generations of a family in a challenge before. Way to make this healthy living a family affair!

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be here on the W.I.S.H board!
My name is Jillian, I am 20 years old. I am in college for Early Childhood Education, and have dreams of opening my own preschool. I love children! I also currently work part-time as a Photographer's Assistant. I have been going to Disney since I was around 8 years old. I now go with my boyfriend and family at least once a year!(Hopefully we will start going more!) I first started a weight loss journey after I was involved in an accident with an 18 wheeler. I gained about 10 pounds from having to stay on bed rest for about a year. I am very ready to get rid of it! My goal is around 5 pounds a month, unless I can get it off all in one month
I just started running, WHICH I LOVE! I hated running when I was younger, but now I can't get enough! I hope to start a Pre-Trip/Training report soon, I am running the 2014 Wine and Dine Half!

I think that's about it for now! I look forward to getting to know all of you!

I have just a minute to pop on here while the kiddos are at recess. I see it is "introduce yourself" time, but since I tend to be long-winded, I will skip that step until I am home. Can't wait to have a minute to read everyone's introductions.... especially you newbies!!

I'm thinking about giving myself some sort of "October challenge".... maybe a particular exercise every day or trying some sort of new eating pattern (something that would fit within WW). I just feel like I need to try something new. Any suggestions? If it were a fitness thing I could still fit it in before I sleep tonight. It would be such a nice feeling to do something EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm playing with the idea of Rose's "mile-a-day" thing.... when I do exercise I usually do several miles, but lately the exercise has been SO LACKING that just committing to 1 mile EVERY DAY would be a step in the right direction. Or maybe something like the "plank-a-day" challenge I did this past March?

I see the recess kids lining up, so I need to dash for now! TTYL..........P

At my weight loss group in the UK, we do something called the 777 challenge. 7 glasses of water a day, 7 different vegetables a day, for 7 days......people on average see a loss of 2 - 4 lbs a week on this. (You do get to eat other normal food too, not just the 7 veggies...you can count salad stuff too, but not fruit due to the higher sugar content.)

LAST CALL FOR FINAL SEPTEMBER WEIGHTS........quite a few of you still haven't PM'd me, so I'll be updating the fnal colours tomorrow to give you a chance if you've forgotten.

If someone wants to come up with a mini-challenge for the month of October that would be great! I'm open to anything as long as I don't have to keep track of it.

A few years ago, I hosted a 100 crunches & 100 pushups a day challenge. Maybe we could do something like that, but modified, perhaps to 50 and 50 or 100 of one or the other? Is anyone interested? If so, I'd be glad to host it.

Truly the best thing I did for myself this year was to challenge myself to a mile a day everyday. I am still a little disappointed that I have not run them all (I have walked a bunch), but despite all the craziness around our house lately, I have kept it up. I have walked or run a mile in all four disney parks, with friends, family, in several states, around at least 4 of the wdw resorts. In my old neighborhood, in my new neighborhood, in at least 4 different parks in Louisville. It has kept me grounded. I can't even really explain what I have gotten from it. I even squeaked one out after my bad fall in July--though TigerLily volunteered to do it for me, which was awesome.

Anyhow, I strongly encourage mini daily challenges. It's not always easy, but it really is a huge feeling of accomplishment!

****
QOTD--Hi I'm Rose. Been doing challenges since 2010. Lost ~50 pounds, got pretty sick, gave up gluten, dealt with a bunch of injuries, got healthier, gained a bunch back. That pretty much sums it up. I am frustrated with myself for putting so many pounds on this summer, but I am ready to get to it and get my weight back down. I see the frustration as an excuse to quit, so I am working hard to let it go and to concentrate on one bite at a time, one mile at a time, one day at a time. I am 46, married, one DS who is in grad school 500 miles away. I work part-time. I think I am just about at menopause--which is adding a whole new level of challenge to things, but I know it's doable, so here we go!

Welcome to all the new folks!
We are back from visiting DS and ready to get settled in our apartment at least until we figure out where we are going in our life adventure. Our house is officially closed, the mortgage paid off, and the new people have moved in. Still a little sad, but mostly ready to get organized!

for hosting the thread this month!

My name is Elizabeth. I am pushing 40 and am originally from Chicago. I live in middle Tennessee, halfway between Knoxville and Nashville. I have one DD7 and this month marks my 10th anniversary married to the best DH ever! This is my first full month on this board. I joined in mid Sept because I had confirmed my reservations for our first Disney trip next October (2014) and I refuse to be heavy for that trip.

I had not been overweight until I was put on bedrest during my pregnancy with my DD. Seven years and about 80 pounds or so later, I do not think that excuse is valid any more. I have about 60 more pounds to lose to reach my goal of 125. I do struggle taking off the weight because I work full-time and am in my last year of college. I am a history major with a minor in legal studies and I intern for our county's Public Defender Office. If I am not at work (I work from home at night) or at school, I am in court. I love 2 of those 3 things - school and court - but am looking forward to quitting my job as a medical transcriptionist and working as a paralegal/legal secretary after I graduate next May.

I love the support this board offers! I saw that we have 3 generations from one family and that is particularly touching to me. What a great commitment to make together! I cannot post often because I am usually sneaking in reading while supposed to be doing something else, but I enjoy so much reading each post by all the great people here.

Good luck to all this month - it is going to be the best one ever!

Throw me in the pumpkin boat
I love this season! My big pumpkin downfalls are pumpkin pie bagel from Panera, pumpkin spice coffee/latte, and pumpkin roll. I'm doing good so far, but will definitely splurge once in awhile!

I hope everyone is off to a good start today. I am finally home after work, a long walk with the dog, dinner, and soccer practice for DS10. Now I want to catch up on a couple DVR'd shows and cheer on the Buccos (Pittsburgh Pirates for you non-western PA people )

Pamela-I would love to participate in a challenge a day. I loved when I did Jillian Michaels 30DS. I felt so accomplished crossing days off the calendar. For today I'll just count my 2.5 miles. If someone wants to decide & make it official, I'm in

Have a great night!

Jill
