Post Online Check-in POLL

Now that online check-in has been available long enough for most of us to try it out, what is the consensus?

We have used on-line check-in since they started offering it. We have always had a pretty good experiences. A couple of times it has saved us a lot of time as we arrived at a peak check-in time and the lobby was a madhouse. We haven't had many issues with getting our room requests met, but all we ever ask for is a room in a certain area. A couple of times our room wasn't ready and we didn't get our room assigned until we were in the parks. Usually our room is ready and we can freshen up after our flight before heading to the parks. We give a big thumbs up for OLCI!!!

We used it twice and got the worst ever rooms at our resort -- we got none of our requests and although they had the room keys etc ready at check in, we ended up going back to have them changed both times. And since we were checking in early there were still great rooms available and we got everything we had asked for.

But since MDE the check in process takes a lot longer, especially for us since MBs can't be shipped outside the US. We did regular check in for our first stay and online for our second stay. It took about the same amount of time either way, so there was no savings. Except... there are less CMs at the online check in desk so that line took longer.
Just got back from a long trip in WDW!!!

I haven't used it and probably won't. I like to request certain types of rooms and want to meet face to face with someone to discuss availability.

We used it for the first time and it was easy peasy. I got my one request (ground floor room) and a little pixie dust.

We used it two of our last three trips and it has worked out very nicely. Each time we used it we were checked in by a CM using an iPad and the process went very quickly. It was only about five minutes to get checked in and on our way to our room in January.

I still make sure that I phone in my room requests if there isn't an option for what I want on the online list.

The time we did not use online check in was when we were traveling with our daughter and her family and wanted to make sure our room was located close to their room.

The one and only time we used it was the one and only time we didn't get our room request. I know everyone says it doesn't make a difference as far as room requests go but I won't chance it again.

I've used it for three different resort reservations and had my requests honored at all three. It's a great time saver!

If you did online check-in and didn't get your requests you could always try asking to move. I'm sure they'll do their best to help you get what you want/need.

The only time we used it, we had neither of our requests granted, nor was the room ready. I am fine with the room not being ready, but I needed a ground floor room (due to wheelchair) and the second floor room they had given us was as far from the elevator as it was possible to be.

A ground floor room WAS available, but it took almost an hour to make the changes and process new cards. Needless to say- no advantage to doing on line check in for us. We've used regular check in since then.

You should add "other" to your poll. None of the poll options apply to me.

I've used it once, I didnt have a bad experience with it. But I just prefer not to use online check in because I have had better luck getting the room I want by checking in the regular way.

Thats why I never do on-line check in.

We used online check in last year at BC. I think I just requested that we have a full balcony and it was met. We are not that picky and if it hadn't been met it wouldn't have been that big a deal. I make requests in hopes that we will get it but I don't assume an since it's just preference and not out of necessity I never worry about it.

I have found when I use on line check in I usually don't get my requests met. For example my last trip I stayed at POR. My only request was for a room near a bus stop. I didn't specify a particular bus stop, just a room near a bus stop. My room ended up smack in the middle between the South Depot and the West Depot. I actually posted on the POR thread asking for help in the shortest way to get to a bus stop!

In the past if we have had anything at all complicated when it comes to the resort reservation, I haven't used OLCI. And that seems to work out the best.
