Call me a snob or elitist...but I was looking forward to the gate next August.....I like feeling special....that is what your paying for....to get special treatment in a special area..

When I stay deck 2 ....inside stateroom....I know what I am paying for.

We were at BAy Lake Tower this past June and were staying on the 16th floor where the Top of World Lounge is located and we had to use our KTTWC to access the elevator just to get to our floor. My boys and DBIL loved it...we felt special being on the top floor.

We sail in Dec and I hope they ARE gone. They seem like a pain especially if you have family that want to visit you in your room or if you join a FE group. They also seem like a safety hazard to me in the event of an emergency. Maybe I've seen Titanic one too many times

If you have to worry about water and that gate on the 12th deck, DCL is having a really bad day

The gates are an inconvenience, especially if you are staying on deck 11, go to the lounge on 12 and bring stuff back to your room/suite - been there, done that. You can't access the concierge lounge without your special gold card. A private elevator / keycard access on lift to reach a penthouse type floor is one thing but gates that you look through / around didn't work for me.

I kind of liked the Art Nouveau look of the gates. Oh well not a big deal either way.
Now if they were taking out the Concierge Expresso Machine, that really would be a BIG DEAL.

Hopefully they bring them back. I don't want to deal with 10 of your family visiting , because everybody couldnt afford a room. I don't want to do deal with your FE hitting me on the shoulder walking down the hall. The gates were one of the few things on the DCL that allowed private spaces for concierge guest , who pay considerably more than other guest for the private space and attentive service. Now that the gates are gone, how long until non-concierge guest are allowed in the lounge or private sun deck.

As far as I knew there are no gates on the fantasy, magic or wonder and I think everyone still feels pretty special there. Are there not cast members in the area to help make sure that only those who paid for it are eligible to use the lounge and other special things?

If someone wants their family to visit, a gate won't stop them. And the halls are plenty wide enough that a FE won't hit you. To be honest, getting to cabins on decks 11 and 12 is a bit confusing and not like to draw much more traffic than it does now.

Not just inconvenience, IMO, they are outright an unsightly eyesore. Feel special you can afford and amazing room with extra special service.
