Captain Cook's for lunch?

We absolutely love the Poly and although we have an ADR for breakfast at Ohana that morning, we may go back to Captain Cook's later for lunch. Is it any good? I know they have some yummy looking cupcakes!

We're also considering Contempo Cafe or Gasparilla Grill but Captain Cook's seems to have something we would all enjoy!

According to the reviews I've been reading its one of the best CS resort restaurants on property. My DS will love the adult grilled cheese and I'm always good with sushi. Seems like a good value for the price (given that we're on property of course). Most of our previous resort CS experiences were pretty bad (ASMu, Dolphin) but we're planning to give it a shot for dinner on our next trip. We want to catch Hallowishes from the Poly beach.

My family LOVES Captain Cooks and we go at least once a trip but normally several times a trip. We like the Aloha Pork sandwich, Pork nachos, and the Stir-Fried Noodles the best. Honestly though we have tried almost everything there and have not been disappointed.

We like to go to the different monorail CS locations for lunch just to get out of the MK crowds. I like the Aloha Pulled Pork sandwich and the house-made chips, although it seemed a little dry this past May.

The cupcakes look good but because we go during warmer weather I've always gotten the serve-yourself Dole Whip. If you're on a dining plan, tell them that's the dessert you want and they'll give you the empty cup at the register, but you can eat your lunch (we like to sit at one of the tables outside), then come back in with the cup and the receipt and get our Dole Whips so they don't melt while we're eating.

I have to say, though, that I also really like Contempo Cafe. I think it's very much worth the travel time to get a lunch or dinner there as well. I believe each of the Deluxe resorts has one or two unique cupcakes now at their CS locations so you'll always find something fun.

My kids and I were just talking about Captain Cook's this afternoon. We went there for lunch one afternoon from the MK and really enjoyed it. Will definitely go there again on a future trip.
