Where to go to leave MK for CS or quick dinner?

Right now am planning on Columbia harbor house for a dinner, but we have never tried to stay rope drop to close before and wondering if we might need a break. What's a fun place we could get to without TOP much time for an inexpensive meal? Boat rides are more fun for us but open to suggestions! DD6, ds2, husband and I and my mom who will be using a scooter

If you want to stay more on the "affordable" side of things but want to do a buffet, Trails End @ Fort Wilderness is a great option. It's probably the cheapest dinner buffet you will find in WDW. (@ $24-25 per adult & $14-15 per child)

It's a nice boat ride and the restaurant is not far from the dock so it would be convenient with a scooter. It's a nice retreat from the parks as well and once you are seated you can eat at your own leisure (as slow or quick as you want). I would however highly recommend ADR's as it can get rather busy.

If you want to go even cheaper there you can always do Trails to Go where you can order pizza or fried chicken "to go". The only issue you may have is finding somewhere to sit. There are few benches available but you might be able to find somewhere to sit.

I love Captain Cook's at the Polynesian, myself. It's a counter service meal and I LOVE the Aloha Pork Sandwiches! But I don't think you can take the scooter on the boat, you'd have to take the monorail.

Definitely check out the monorail resorts - they have some nice CS places. We have taken a break from the parks at Capt Cook's and Contempo Café.

This year we are going to Kona and The Plaza for lunch on our MK days. Both are TS but not super expensive and we decided on lunch to break up the day - A/C in the middle of the day is a good thing

I agree with the Contempo Café (Contemporary). You can walk or monorail (there might be a boat too?). Quick / easy to get to from MK and with the pathway you don't have to depend on Disney transportation.

They have great cupcakes

+1 on Trails End @ Wilderness Campgrounds -- they also are the cheapest breakfast buffet in WDW, which is also really good and a fun experience taking the boat and eating in a campground dining hall. Other moderately-priced TS options that don't require reservations when you need a quiet respite from MK include Whispering Canyon Café @ Wilderness Lodge (B, L, D - all-you-can eat or a la carte for breakfast, dinner requires reservations, closed 11:15-11:45, 2:30-5), The Wave @ Contemporary (B, L, D -- buffet or a la carte for B/D, closed 11-12, 2-5), Kona Café @ Polynesian (B, L - closed 11:15-12, after 2:45), Grand Floridian Café @ Grand Floridian (B, L, D - closed 11-11:30, 2-5). During 3-5 your only option is CS at those same resorts. Of all these, Kona Café is my fave for breakfast (kona cofee, mac nut pancakes) and lunch (Hawaiian plate lunches). Grand Floridian Café would be my choice for dinner (nothing special but surprisingly good and moderately priced). Let us know where you ended up/how it was.
