I just keep plugging on the diet--I'm highly sodium sensitive and gain and lose water weight constantly. I eat mostly Paleo with a bit of whole grains, fruit and Greek yogurt plus things like peanut butter. I'm a very boring eater, most of the time.

Exercise, I think, is really helping. I run --at my age, amazing, since I just started running in May, with C25K (I'm almost 63) around 4 miles 4 times a week. One day I do strength training with a personal trainer. Yes, it costs big bucks, but I'd kill myself trying to use machines at the gym. And I don't need more cardio--I need someone to tell me how to do strength training. So I pony up.

I lose about 3 pounds per month --4 on a good month-- on 1200 calories or less per day. This was one of the big revelations to me -- I can't eat very many calories per day. The combination of being older and short(5-1) really limits me. Forget about "eating back my exercise calories" -- I don't lose a thing when I do. Plus not I'm down to 136-- a loss of 48 pounds in a little over a year-- so I can't eat as much as when I started.

I don't care how long it takes any more--I just wish I'd done this a decade ago. One of my best friends who I've known forever said yesterday, "We DID lose it 10 years ago-- and 5 and 15 and 20 years ago." But this time I mean to make it stick.

Hang in there-- you can enjoy being thin for a lot longer than I can!
you are doing great! One of my bucket list items is to a 10K at Disney, I am slowing working my time and distance up on my running and have a target date of 2015 to hit one of the 10K's, the lung doctor wants me to take it very slow on the build up since I am down 1/2 a lung. She said it takes a few years until things stop "jiggling" around in that empty space and to build up better lung function (something about being able to take full breaths when missing part of a lung due to them working in tandem or something like that, I don't fully understand). I have always used running as a way to lose weight in the past and I a sure that not being able to do that much is adding to the slow loss issue.

I also have to very wary of calories, trouble is I love to eat! I eat a lot of roasted veggies in my salads and foods that I can have a lot of without a ton of calories.

Losing weight is like the smoking quote Mark Twain wrote with a little edit, "losing weight is easy, I have done it hundreds of times"....I too am bound and determined to be healthy and be able to still run in my 60's.

...what a gain...oh no!

Yup had the dreaded 2 lb gain this week, I know it is probably water or something but I feel like I just un-did a month worth of work. Thanks for letting me vent.

woo hoo a victory!

My goal this week was to lose my gain from last week (yes even though I figured it was bloating or something). I was when weighed in this morning and not only did I lose those 2 lbs from last week 1 friend went with it this for a grand total weekly of 3 lbs. Total down 31 lbs!

Good for you!!! Keeping track of my weight daily--yes, the thing "they" tell you not to do-- has helped me freak out a LITTLE less about these daily doggone fluctuations. Now I know that I'll gain weight--up to 6 pounds in a week on vacation or any time I eat "normally" for a few days -- but that it will fall off within another week, often taking another pound with it. It's just hard to see that gain when we work so hard!

I am also a slow loser. I lose 1-2 pounds a week. I started Curves Complete mid May and so far have lost 36 pounds. My goal is 70-75lbs.

I have had a really bad week as my brother moved this past weekend (2 day move) and had pizza & chinese food and then it was Canada's thanksgiving, so I feel like I would be lucky not to gain this week.

But, I am trying getting back on the wagon and eating healthy and within the diet plan but I am falling back on old bad habits.

I have a trip to WDW in Nov (for my bday!) that I am worried about. I did a 7 day cruise with my mom this Sept and gained 4.5lbs. Worried what I am going to gain in the 12 days I am on this trip (2 days travel as I am from the West Coast).

You are having awesome success and I'm so happy for you! But 1-2 lbs per week isn't slow.
