Lanyards

Just wondering what the lanyards that you get in the mail with your hotel information and park tickets look like. Do they have a pouch? Anyone have a recent photo of one?

You don't actually get them in the mail. You get a voucher to turn in at the parks. And it depends where you order from. In our experience they are blue with the name of the company on them (Ie, Walt Disney Travel Co, Costco Travel, etc). And yes, they have a plastic pouch on them.

Ok. So they are pretty basic then. I wasn't sure if they had characters on them or not. My hubby is more inclined to wear one with just words on it.

They're very generic, we usually don't even bother with them.

Same here. They aren't something we use while we're there.
It's just one of the little trinkets they put in the package.

I'd caution putting anything valuable such as park hoppers, credit cards, cash etc in the pouches as they are very flimsy and prone to tearing off the hook and falling off.

I cringe every time I see someone with a 5 day park hopper in one of them.

the parks sell pouches that are more secure IME, if you like you can buy one of those to use instead of using the included pouches. They are generally pretty generic lanyards and you should get a couple of pins as well. Even the lanyards you can buy in the parks can be pretty generic, most of mine just say Disneyland on them, I do have one with pirate skulls and one with Tinkerbell but the one with Tink I got at Party City. lol

So a silly question - I will have a 3 day hopper pass. To I put it into a good quality lanyard?

I don't like to wear lanyards in the park. I wear my Disneyland one with pins to work everyday (because I have to wear my keys and whistle) so the last thing I want at the park is something around my neck. It just seems like something that would get in the way getting on and off rides and I would worry about loosing it. I carry a small purse with that opens to credit card slots near the top zipper. I can easily slip my AP and FPs in and out of the slots.

We took my BIL and his two boys to DL (7&8 years old) for their first trip. They had received lanyards with the clear plastic pouch on it. My BIL was going to let his boys carry their park hoppers in the lanyard pouch. I said would you let them carry $250 around their neck? BIL said NO WAY! I said that's how much it'll cost you to replace the park hoppers if the boys lose them. He decided to keep the park hoppers in his wallet.

If you want to. I wear a lanyard to the Park all the time as I wear my pins for pin trading; however, I NEVER put anything in the pouch. To me, it's just too easy for it to come off without noticing. I'm always amazed at how many items of value people trust those plastic pouches with when I'm at the Parks. My ticket goes deep in my pocket or in a pocket in my backpack if I have it with me that day.

On our upcoming two week visit to DL & DCA, we will be getting Deluxe AP's. The first thing I'll do after entering the park on day one is get a nice and durable lanyard.

Is there a certain store in DL that has the best selection?

The Little Green Men Store Command at Tomorrowland is a nice pin trading store which has a lot of selection as well as the Westward Ho Trading Company in Frontierland.
