It's disappointing the other family members do not enjoy Disney, but at least I have my girl, she sweetly indulges me.

You are so right about cherishing all the moments when your kids are at home. I say that to young couples all the time that seem exasperated with their little ones. I understand, day to day can get overwhelming, but soak it up - there will come a day they will wish they could do up a tiny coat, wash their face, tuck them in bed or read them a story. It only seems they will be little forever, it actually flies by.

I have completely veered off topic - AGAIN!! Here is a photo:

Can I put in my order for some fudge! I wouldn't mind some chex mix too!

I am thinking that sooner rather than later it may just be DD and I doing Disney, unless DH and I make a trip together for food & wine one day! It makes me sad thinking about them growing up and leaving. Even on the days they are driving me crazy. lol

And I can't wait to see that Tree for myself. Just 2 more weeks until we check into the Grand!!!!!

I am still having a hard time realizing the age of my kids. Where has the time gone. My DS will be a teenager in a couple months. How did that happen . . . I am not old enough to have a teenager in the house . . .

No baking here yet......I usually bake closer to Christmas, so will probably start in about a week and a half . What kind of goodies are you baking?
I am missing our warmer temps too . . . It's cold and snowy here today. I am just hoping that we have really nice weather when we are at Disney in 2 weeks.

I usually bake closer to Christmas too, but I am going to try and make some cookie this weekend. Along with trying to get my FE gifts done for the cruise portion of my trip. LOL Wish me luck! lol

I hope you're able to get some baking done. I can't help with baking and freezing as I've never done it, but good luck....I'm sure everything will turn out just fine . Also, safe travels tomorrow.

I'll join you in hugs to the moms missing their "little ones". Even though mine are older and still home, I know the time will come for them to leave the house, which will really take a toll on me .

Love the pics you've been posting....I love the GF at Christmas time.....makes me want to be there now .
The GF at Christmas is amazing.

I baked 4 dozen pecan tassies - which seems like a lot, until you start eating them, lol. According to the Joy of Baking website, they freeze extremely well, I hope they do.

LOL about your Lab. DD's Lab is hilarious in the snow, she prances around, cavorts and makes a fool of herself in general.

Mine are 7 and 9 and I already get sad thinking about it. They slept over a friends house last night and I (who normally sleeps in on the weekend) was up bright and early ready to pick them up!!! Much to their dismay, lol
HAHAHA! "Hey, wake up you guys, your mom's here!"

It is hard, but it's all the sweeter when they are home again. Enjoy the coming years with your kids.

Your dog and my dog should get together. He does the same thing. I let him out and he stands there on the deck looking around. I often wonder what is going thru his mind . . . When he comes back in he give me that look that says, "Really, you couldn't train me to use the toilet inside. It's too cold out there!"
LOL! I know that look. I, too, often wonder what our dogs are thinking, I thought maybe it was just me!

The local news has been pointing out how much worse other areas have it, but it isn't helping.

I can relate, my grandmother had a fruitcake recipe that I now have a copy of, but I can't get them to come out right. Even my sister, who helped her make them as a teen, can't do it. Always missing something.

Good luck with your baking and gifting.

LOL about having a teenager - don't worry, you will feel old enough in a hurry!

Fudge and Chex mix it is. You'll be there to see the tree in person before you know it.

Princessmocha: my grandma baked that way too.

I do make thumbprint cookies with green mint jelly like my grandmas. I shut my eyes and take a bite and bam!! Back in her kitchen like a little girl again

K&A&C'S Mom love the holiday GF pics! The tree wasn't up yet when I was there but I have seen it the last 4/5 years.

Mickeynut I didn't bake after all. My husband wanted to shop. He never "shops"! I do usually make some cookies and freeze half and eat half. My kids like simple choc chip, oatmeal and sugar cookies which freeze good.

I love all the resorts at Christmas! When we there last year I visited WL, cr, GF and poly! (Stayed at BLT and they had cute trees in the halls my dh wanted to bring home).

Good morning... Happy Sunday! A rainy one, and colder (compared to the temps we've been having down south here lately).

Yesterday was our "party day"..two church parties on one day, and I'm wiped out! lol An eating orgy..(Blue, it's still all about the food, especially at Christmas time!)

Bethclayton, so happy to hear about your new job!
And I totally agree with you, and own my love of the lounge too! (I know...you too, Mickeynut and k&a&c'smom..you're lounge lizards too! ) We linger in the lounge to chat with our CM friends all the time..

Sounds like you have THE dream job . You get to work from home, love what you do, and can take time off when needed......can't ask for anything better .

You will be checking into the Grand before you know it .

Watching your kids grow up so fast is sad. It is nice to see them grow up into young adults, but it's also sad at the same time as it's not long after that that they will be out on their own . My two (so far) say they are staying local and not moving away, but you never know what a job offer might bring when the time comes.....but thankfully I have at least another 3-4 college years for them to be home.

I hear you on baking dozens of goodies and not ending up with as many as you originally started with ....but you have to do some tasting along the way .

Too funny about your DD's lab......they do have their funny sides as all dogs do, but they are amazing dogs and so loving .

I cracked up about "feeling" old enough with a teenager .....you are so right.....if one doesn't feel old prior to having a teenager, you sure will have that feeling when the time comes .

What a sweet memory of being in your grandma's kitchen when you make those cookies .

Sorry you didn't get to bake, but hopefully your shopping trip was worth while. Good for you that your kids like the simple cookies.....I'm not that lucky....LOL.....but it's ok because I don't mind all of the baking during the holidays as it gets me into the Christmas spirit .

I love all of the resorts at Christmas time too......some I like more than others, but they are all very nicely decorated and it's fun to pop in and visit all of them .

Good morning grannyminnie . Having two parties in one day would wear me out too.....but I hope you had a nice time at both of them .

I am definitely a lounge lizard (I like that term )......I love to sit and chat with the CMs as well (especially in RPC).

Hi to everyone else.....hope everyone is having a nice weekend .

Good Morning fellow GF Fans!

Spent a nice long weekend in sunny Florida... No..not Disney..I wish..lol...but such a nice alternative to our weather in the NE! Was going to pop in before we left..but time just got away from me...

Have I missed any new exciting GF stuff???...I see that our resident picture poster has been sharing some if her lovely GF holiday photos..

Thanks k&a&cc'smom !!! Love the pics~ I.. like others around here am needing a GF fix..LOL...When did you take the pic of the bell choir..I was lucky enough to see them one year and absolutely loved the performance..BTW whats a pecan tassie?? And since you baked so many..maybe you can send me some!! LOL..

Morning grannyminnie I bet you are up and having at least your second cup of morning coffee by now..resting up after ALL of those parties!! Please add my name to the "lounge lizard" list..LOL..love it!!

I skimmed as usual when I am behind... but I did see ..

Congrats to you BethClayton on a new job!

and lots of baking talk...

MickeyNut Your peanut butter blossom cookie recipe is a fave around here...

We are blessed to have 4 generations now baking holiday cookies together...I am a better helper than baker..LOL..but DD seems to have inherited her grandmas's knack for baking!

Ok ok..I know we are OT a bit ..but on the Disney side of that...I do have some of the Cooking with Mickey cookbooks that have been published over the years... and have tried many of the recipes... The cookbooks do bring me down Disney restaurant memory lane... anyone remember Flagler's?? Predecessor to Citricos? Its always about the food!

PrincessMocha I noticed that your are under the two week mark!!!

Hope that everyone has a magical Monday!

I DO remember Flaglers with the beautiful wicker furniture and the veal shank. Still being served but not quite the same as then! I also remember paying $169 for a room - them days are gone forever too!

We're Back!

Hi Everyone!

We just returned from our first stay at GF and oh my, it was marvelous!

We had connecting TPV rooms in Big Pine Key (I think that was the name of it). It was quiet, clean and service was second to none. The walk to get refills on drinks was a hike though.

The view of the fireworks was good but, I do have to say that the contemporary view was better. The kids liked being close to the Electrical Water parade, too.

Narcoosees and Citricos were both great restaurants and 1900 Park Fare had the best eggs benedict ever. Despite me vowing never to return to 1900 after dinner our last visit, I have to say the breakfast is very, very good.

I think we've said goodbye to the DxDP, it's just to much food and we are going to do Club Level next time and forego the dining plan altogether. I really like the idea of the outer buildings though-a little more quaint so, I'll be eyeing the outer building club level.

I already miss it-lovely, lovely place to stay.

Glad you had a great stay. The GF is a beautiful resort with a lot to offer. I would suggest looking into both SL and RPC for your GF CL stay. It was nice trying SL and I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience it, but there's nothing quite like staying in the main building (although everyone's opinion is different and there are some that don't care for RPC). Have fun planning your next stay .

Blueskies: I know we are so close . . . We actually leave in 9 days and spend a little time at some other park in the Orlando area . . . But then less than 2 weeks to check into the Grand!

DisneyDmbNut: I love your picture. I can almost smell the gingerbread!

I am so glad you had a great trip. We too are doing DxDP this trip and I have a feeling I might go into a food coma. Although with it being Christmas, dining might be the only thing we have a minimal wait! LOL

Hello, everyone, from frigid Chicago!! Hope you are all having a good week so far.

mickeynut - LOL about the dogs and the teens! I make peanut butter blossoms, too. My kids like to race each other unwrapping the Kisses, which makes it extra easy for me!

grannyminnie - hope you got some rest, 2 parties in one day - wow!! You're right, I'm a lounge lizard at heart.

trishadono - aren't all the resorts beautiful at Christmas? We love checking out as many of the decorations as we can. It's been so long since we've been at Christmas.

BlueSkies - a weekend in FL?! A girl after my own heart! What a dream, after I woke up to -2 degrees this morning. Ugh.

The bell ringers were in 2006? I think. We were there in the days leading up to Christmas (flew home on Christmas Eve to be with the rest of the family, lol) and there were several wonderful performances - that's the only one I happened to catch in a photo! In fact, I didn't take nearly as many pictures that trip as I should have, phooey.

Pecan tassies are tiny pecan tarts, so good. My whole family loves them.

DisneyDmbNut - thanks for the photo, lovely! Glad you had a nice weekend trip.

meredith1 - welcome back, glad you had a magical stay! The eggs benedict are always good at the Grand, one of our favorite items at the GFC.

We love SL and RPC, whichever is available at a discount.

I thought you might feel the fireworks view less stellar than the CR - hard to beat those CR MK views, right?!

ppiew and mickeynut, I'm sad for the loss of the cheap travel in general.

Good Morning!

I was able to check in yesterday (YAY!!) but I have a question. It asked me if I wanted a dormer room. Since I am in SL, are those rooms on the top floor only or are some on the lower ends?

Other than having the closed balcony, what is the benefit? Are they bigger? Smaller??

We had the closed balcony at WL CL, it didn't bother me like it did some..I could go out in my sleep shirt and not worry about being seen..since I don't have a "view", just wondered if I should request this.
